The Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award is named after South Korean Dr. Whang Youn Dai, who contracted polio at the age of three. She devoted her life to the development of paralympic sport in Korea and around the world. At the 1988 Paralympic Summer Games in Seoul, Korea, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) recognized her lifelong contributions to the Paralympic Movement and established the Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award (formerly the Whang Youn Dai Overcome Prize). Since then, this award has been presented at every Paralympic Games to one male and one female athlete who each "best exemplify the spirit of the Games and inspire and excite the world".

@
Mccapra:, thanks for the digital strawberries, ironically if you didn't move the original to draftspace I probably wouldn't have expanded it so you are equally to thank for how much is added to the article. I just found it a shame that user "Laska666" added so little information, likely because this person is "an ideological enemy" of them as most of Kelley's work is actually against the Vietnamese nationalist historiography that the original creator loves to push. --

@
Ltn12345:, for now I limit myself to Enwiki, I used to translate a lot of articles into Dutch in the past but stopped as I felt like I wasn't really adding anything and was catering only to a limited audience. The thing is that a lot of people read the English-language Wikipedia while fewer people read other language editions unless it's from cultures where English literacy is low (Vietnam included). I remember asking Dutch people about Wikipedia and almost all of them exclusively read the English-language edition claiming that the Belgophone one often just lacks information (partially due to a culture of "trimming"). The only reason I wrote the article about Liam Kelley was because user "Laska666" had done so, but was unwilling to actually do more than a single sentence stub that got draftified by another user. I still have a lot of projects that I want to complete and honestly found the current Liam Kelley article to be an unwelcome strain on my time. --

Ltn12345:, a lot has been written about Taylor... Unfortunately nobody with an interest in him has added it to "his" Wikipedia page. I would be willing to do so in the future, but just today I found
this really interesting article that I want to add to Wikipedia, so the goal posts are ever moving further for me... --

A majority of Wikipedias now have access to the Growth features. The Growth team
has published an FAQ page about the features. This translatable FAQ covers the description of the features, how to use them, how to change the configuration, and more.
The
new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 September. It will be on all wikis from 16 September (
calendar).
Starting this week, Wikipedia in Italian will receive weekly software updates on Wednesdays. It used to receive the updates on Thursdays. Due to this change, bugs will be noticed and fixed sooner.

You can add language links in the sidebar in
the new Vector skin again. You do this by connecting the page to a Wikidata item. The new Vector skin has moved the language links but the new language selector cannot add language links yet.

The
syntax highlight tool marks up code with different colours. It now can highlight 23 new code languages. Additionally, golang can now be used as an alias for the
Go programming language, and a special output mode has been added to show a program's output.

Continuing the work on the Mismatch Finder. This week we focused on the remaining groundwork for showing the first mismatches for review.
Continuing to work on improvements to the underlying system of how edits are propagated from Wikidata to the other Wikimedia projects.
Implemented two improvements for constraints: the “distinct values” constraint type now supports the “separator” parameter (
phab:T277855) and we no longer check qualifiers on some unusual™ properties (
phab:T235292)
Adding tags to some of the remaining UI edits that didn't get them yet for edits on Lexemes (
phab:T290950)
Making it possible to add tags to some remaining Lexeme API modules (
phab:T290951)
Fixed a bug in the Query Builder where it didn't show labels when opening an existing visual query from a shared link (
phab:T280684)
Made the Query Builder more visible in the Query Service UI (

MediaWiki had a feature that would highlight local links to short articles in a different style. Each user could pick the size at which "stubs" would be highlighted. This feature was very bad for performance, and following a consultation, has been removed.

A technical change was made to the MonoBook skin to allow for easier maintenance and upkeep. This has resulted in some minor changes to HTML that make MonoBook's HTML consistent with other skins. Efforts have been made to minimize the impact on editors, but please ping
Jon (WMF) on wiki or in
phabricator if any problems are reported.
Problems
There was a problem with search last week. Many search requests did not work for 2 hours because of an accidental restart of the search servers.
[9]
Changes later this week
The
new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 21 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 22 September. It will be on all wikis from 23 September (
calendar).
The
meta=proofreadpage API has changed. The piprop parameter has been renamed to prpiprop. API users should update their code to avoid unrecognized parameter warnings. Pywikibot users should upgrade to 6.6.0.
[10]
Future changes
The
Reply tool will be deployed to the remaining wikis in the coming weeks. It is currently part of "Discussion tools" in
Beta features at most wikis. You will be able to turn it off in
Editing Preferences.
[11]
The
previously announced change to how you obtain tokens from the API has been delayed to September 21 because of an incompatibility with Pywikibot. Bot operators using Pywikibot can follow
T291202 for progress on a fix, and should plan to upgrade to 6.6.1 when it is released.

Băng Tỏa:, I am not allowed to do that (I had an emoji in my signature which got me blocked and as a part of my unblock conditions I'm only allowed to edit article, user, and category pages, the unblocking admin implied that he would never let me edit more as he ignores all my messages asking to have any (part of the) restrictions lifted). You are free to nominate it for DYK yourself but I'm not allowed to. Thank you for your improvements to it. --

Băng Tỏa:, but if you were to nominate it you could write something like this:
Liam C. Kelley operates an academic blog about the history of, and scholarship on,
Southeast Asia using the name "Lê Minh Khải".
"
Liam C. Kelley is an American historian that operates an academic blog under his pseudonym "Lê Minh Khải" where he criticises the way how nationalism influences Vietnamese historiography."
Behavior-altering parasites are parasites with two or more hosts, capable of causing changes in the behavior of one of their hosts to enhance their transmission, sometimes directly affecting the hosts' decision-making and behavior control mechanisms. They do this by making the intermediate host, where they may reproduce asexually, more likely to be eaten by a predator at a higher trophic level which becomes the definitive host where the parasite reproduces sexually. Examples can be found in bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and animals. Parasites may also alter the host behaviour to increase the protection to the parasites or their offspring. The term bodyguard manipulation is used for such mechanisms.
Among the behavioral changes caused by parasites is carelessness, making their hosts easier prey. The protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, for example, infects small rodents and causes them to become careless and may even cause them to become attracted to the smell of feline urine, both of which increase their risk of predation and the parasite's chance of infecting a cat, its definitive host.
