The first source of information on Muirhead is the Dictionary of National Biography - Muirhead's bio. was written by Birse & Knowlden. He was also interested in wireless, dynamos, arc lamps, insulating compounds, and the telephone and so features widely.
They cite sources M. E. Muirhead, Alexander Muirhead (1926). Also the Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 59 (1921), 782–3, & O. J. L., PRS, 100A (1921–2), viii–ix, & Muirhead & Co., Annual report (1975), etc.
He is buried at West Norwood Cemetery (Grave 20,839, square 21) along with other members of his family, his father John Muirhead, architect, and later superintendent with the Electric Telegraph Co. in London. Also his brother John (1846-1895). WNC is the last resting place of a remarkably large number of pioneering technicians and engineers.
