I'm still a bit puzzled by your close of that AfD. Since when is "redirect" not a valid outcome of a deletion discussion? This is the first time I've come across that kind of reasoning, and I could not find anything regarding this in the deletion policies, either, so I'd really like some clarification in that regard. -- Conti| ✉ 10:37, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Crisco, I was hoping you could handle this one. The Background section has gone from all quotes after the first two sentences to something better; I'd like you to decide whether it's far enough, as I've hit my limit here. Thanks, and my apologies. If you have time, I was wondering if you could look at the final (Turkey) hook in Prep 4 to gauge whether POV is an issue. And since I'm definitely not welcome there, Template:Did you know nominations/Make the World Move, where the Background section is said to be rewritten from the imported version, and I'll let you judge whether the changes are enough. (Yes, I think I'm getting closer to burnout. I'm going to do something else for a while. Many thanks for your patience.) BlueMoonset ( talk) 00:36, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

I'm a bit baffled as to why you closed this discussion as a "keep" when there was no policy-based consensus for that course of action. Many of the keep !votes were from users who were bitter that the article was delisted earlier this month, and as such their !votes held no weight to the discussion at all. The first user's !vote stems from WP:ITSUSEFUL for people to understand the artist's career, and shows that he/she didn't bother to look back at User:Richhoncho's analysis of serious sourcing issues such as copyright and WP:SYNTH violations. The WP:PERNOM !vote from the next user is not convincing in the slightest and he/she made no attempt at a decent argument for keeping the article. The next !vote stems from WP:ITSNOTABLE with no real substance, so no weight can be given to that. The last two users' !votes show that they didn't bother to look at the sourcing of the article or the deletion concerns, as the majority of these "sources" were policy and other violations. Overall, I do not think that there was a consensus to "keep" this article, especially because editors failed to address the issue pointed out by User:Richhoncho, which was that the majority of the article's sourcing fails WP:Policy. This is why Afd is not a headcount, but an analysis of the policy-based consensus. Also, the article was delisted from WP:FL for the very reason of dead links being unable to be replaced. "Trying the Wayback Machine to rescue them" is out of the question. Till 08:46, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Crisco, I've almost selected this a couple of times, but there's that "expansion needed" template on the Filmography section (which lists seven or eight films). Is this a problem? The article was created with the template.
Does the template preclude DYK promotion? If so, should it be temporarily removed while the article finishes its DYK journey? Thanks for any thoughts on this: the rules deal with unexpanded sections, but not with sections that have some material but need more. BlueMoonset ( talk) 02:16, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Crisco, I've just filled up a prep set (it had two hooks in it), so it can be checked and promoted at any time. That time does need to be soon—despite the midnight set being posted two hours late, apparently because of a similar lack of queue (or prep), the bot will try to promote in just under three hours (and complain in under an hour).
I'm busy this weekend, so I won't be able to make up any more sets for about 24 hours, and maybe not even then. I hope some people are around to take up the slack. BlueMoonset ( talk) 06:54, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Crisco 1492,

Hey, not sure where you wanted me to respond so I'll post my Signpost bit here.
It was with great difficulty that I tried to narrow down all of the Featured List promotions of the year down to a bare few, and in the end rather than just one I came up with four that I found particularly interesting in their subject matter and impressive in their construction. These are: List of Olympic medalists in art competitions, for capturing a realm of competition I think most people do not know existed; List of chronometers on HMS Beagle, for a fascinating deep dive into a niche area that was of great importance at the time; List of battlecruisers, as one of the capstones of the incredibly massive and long-running Operation Majestic Titan project; and my personal favorite for the year, Timeline of the far future, for the sheer scope of the far-flung events it covers.
-- Pres N 23:55, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Okay, here goes nothing...
Many high-quality lists came through the featured list process in 2012, and I had the opportunity to review many of them. My personal favorite among 2012's promotions is Boden Professor of Sanskrit, a unique list on a University of Oxford position. The list is not one of the longest to be promoted last year, but the research behind it is impeccable and the backstory behind the creation of the position is interesting even to those who know nothing about the Sanskrit language, like myself. In addition, the work on this list led directly to the creation of a spin-off article that achieved featured article status. Boden Professor of Sanskrit shows that featured lists can be every bit as well-researched as longer articles, and that lists can be more than just a bunch of data-filled tables.

We've got another case of empty queues and a full prep waiting for promotion... though, some to think of it, it's your set, isn't it. Hmm. I've just finished a prep set myself, but I built it with hooks that are more appropriately run at the expected time (16:00 UTC; daytime in the US and Canada, with late afternoon in Europe). The DYK project ( nominate) 08:03, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Crisco, can you let me know if I'm offbase here or not? The two-article submission had two QPQs submitted with it, both by Nvvchar. One of them, the Indian one, I recognized: it was an article I had considered for promotion the other night, but had to reject because it had only 1363 prose characters, among other issues. So I did something I've never done before, and posted a ? icon along with the question of whether QPQ credit should be granted, under the circumstances. (I also had a question about the Idaho rivers list, which while 1583 prose characters, spends a good chunk of that talking about sources and units used in the list table, which seemed to me belonged in a non-prose key of some sort. I've now posted to that article's review as well with a ? icon.)
Oddly enough, I'd just had a fairly new DYK contributor, SagaciousPhil, ask about a similar issue on my talk page: he'd just had one of his reviews (a tick) given a ? by DivaKnockouts, who said that the hook wasn't really accurate and suggested a change to it to make it accurate (adding one key word, as it happens, but it seems to have been a necessary change). The question was whether this addition counted as something for which it's appropriate to claim a QPQ credit. I think it could be, depending on how much checking went into it, though I'd never claim one myself under the circumstances.
Thanks. BlueMoonset ( talk) 05:09, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

There is substantial evidence that Ronan was the first graduate of the United States Military Academy to be killed in combat, and editors have gathered citable evidence to this effect. Thanks for taking an interest in this article, and I guess I'm here to ask if you have any more questions, as your earlier questions were good ones. Bigturtle ( talk) 03:10, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi Crisco, I saw that my nomination was rejected. Could you please give me a couple of days to re-phrase the article completely? This is my first wiki contribution and I was not aware of the exact rules regarding close paraphrasing. I understand that somethings need to be reworked upon, but the contents of the article are definitely worth the main page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prachi.chitnis ( talk • contribs) 13:57, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi! Since you are a veteran in film-related (and many other) featured articles, may I please request you to opine in the peer review of the film Mother India. If you have shortage of time, can you at least read the lead, and see if it is interesting enough (and error-free)? Of course, we'll be elated if you read the whole article and provide feedback. I am particularly worried about the theme section since IMO that lacks a good flow. Thanks a lot in advance. Regards.-- Dwaipayan ( talk) 00:01, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
