You can say hi at
Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine. At the top of the page, look for a tab (where you'd normally find the Edit button) that says "Add topic". That would let you start a new section. You could say something like "Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia, and I'm working on [name of an article]" or "I have a question about [whatever your question is]". When you post it, it will end up at the end of the page.
Alternatively, a lot of people just like to
lurk for a while. If you read the page off and on for a few weeks, you'll get a clearer idea about what experienced editors post.
