Hi Alison, I don't think we have met, but I've heard you are one of the better checkusers we have. There is no big rush on this, but if/when you have the time do you mind looking into something to see if I have enough for a checkuser, or tell me if there is anything else I can do? The user above was indef blocked quite some time ago, since then he has created well over a dozen sock puppets, so many that some have not been added to the list. The latest sock blocked was
User:Xx emote xx, now he has created another account
User:Remote peace. I have dealt with this user so much that I can just tell when it is him based on his edits and his actions, but to someone that isn't very familiar with the situation it's hard to tell sometimes. I have never been wrong about an account being a sock of his so far, checkuser has confirmed several of them. I'm nearly certain that he has a whole drawer of socks and that a checkuser could uncover them, and also confirm the remote peace account. Thanks in advance.

Quick rename request
Hi Alison, I'm Eric, sysop at es.wiki. It's done, that account has been renamed to "Vándalo xxx" and the user page and discussion page redirects deleted, there's no connection remaining to your name. Greetings from Spain,

Seriously, can we just decline and protect his talk page. Stringing this sous-pont dweller serial sockpupeteer along only encouarges him. Do we really need to "confirm" this block with the checkuser who issued it? Surely, if Alison didn't think he was a sockpuppet, she would not have been the one to block him in the first place? --

Hi Alison, I hope you are fine. I need your help. I have the impression, that banned
User:NisarKand has once again created new sockpuppets. Could you do me a favor and check the following new users:
I promised I'd leave for a while, but I got a little curious and one thing led to another...anyway, I recommend that you or any admin semi-protect
Jeremy Hanson indefinitely, essentially for the same reason as
Kim Hagger. The reason will be evident to Alison, and if other readers see this first, ask her and note the page history: by the way, the vandal in that article's history could use a sock template. There's stupid site politics and there's the biography of this real-life person who's very likely to get caught up in BLP problems at some point because he shares a name with a certain other fellow. I think this is important enough to sneak out of my little hole and actually ask for it.
On a not-so-serious note, I did not know that it was forbidden to create usernames containing the word "BEANS." I further did not know that if you created the username "foo BEANS" it automatically means you are a sockpuppet of "foo." :-p

Hmmm. I have to kinda think about the unblock and do some digging, but fair point on the

Good call on the prot - I've just done that. And as for the block, I'll unblock as a good faith measure. Their contribs were okay and the original checkuser (not done by me, BTW) didn't come back very strongly. Let's see how unblock goes & I'll take you on your (anonymous, tho' I can guess) word ;) -

Hey alison, thanks for protecting this page. I was originally respecting his wishes NOT to have his page protected against those that.... obviously... don't seem to care all that much for him. But after about a dozen reverts, I had just said screw it and was going to do it anyway when you beat me to the punch. thanks. :) Incidentally... I must really need sleep because the "Whack-a-Jimbo" coming in off the side of your screen just scared the crap out of me.
Trusilver08:23, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I know how he feels on that stuff, too, and he can unprot when he likes, but 1) this was causing unnecessary work and cleanup for others (YOU!!) and 2) it became an oversight issue so I made the call there. Glad you like the Whack-a-Jimbo - scary, huh? I think I need to keep him around ^_^ -
Alison❤08:26, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
I haven't been a part of that particular little business that's going on there? Is there some history behind that? After the eighth time or so, I was prepared to whip out with the rangeblock and then realized that every single hit to his talk page was from a drastically different IP. Is there an off-wiki coordination going on there?
Trusilver08:43, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
He's a frequent target of coordinated vandalism. Probably because he thinks he's "gettin' em" by letting them vandalize so he can indef or long-term block the IPs, and it's a joke for them that he doesn't realize its meaningless. People have tried to talk him out of his "honey-pot for blocking IPs" strategy before, but it hasn't worked.
Avruch T 15:33, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
What Avurch said. He gets co-ordinated attacks from Grawp, who gets his
/b/tard army to do the dirty work for him. Basically, every IP is some random, unknown person, so what's the point? Prot and move on, as per usual. Still, what can ya do ... Jéské takes it all a bit seriously, hence his being a target in the first place :/ -
Alison❤15:40, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Might I make a suggestion? Leave it alone, let the bot do it. Leave them wondering why actual editors are ignoring it. Do the same for Nawlin. -JéskéCouriano(

←Honestly, Jeremy - you're best-off semi-ing the page so the children can all go to bed. Just look at the time!! ^_^ Seriously, semi just wastes /b/tard time then as the edit is blocked. Much more lulzy than having the bot kill ya and you weren't here to edit anyways -

Well, they're all using a rather unpopular and hardblockable /21 range, so that will be the first to go, should the need arise. Furthermore, the
WhiteCenterHoboClearer (

Alison❤19:51, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Alison, wasn't this information (at least his own real name and location) originally published by Jarlaxle himself? It certainly looks that way; I was able to find it easily enough from his own user page histories on other Wikimedia projects. As to the phone number, that was from the mailing list; I realize it is personal information, but how can abuse reports be effectively made without knowing who to make them against? If this vandal was inactive, I would agree that the information should probably be removed. But until he stops, having the information (1) is important in reporting his abusive activities to the ISP and possibly local authorities, and (2) gives us leverage over him - we could say "you want this taken down? stop vandalizing." I am not going to put it back in myself, but I think you should consider these factors.
*** Crotalus ***21:22, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
You put his mother's full legal name and phone number up there??? What were you thinking??? I'm not even going to begin to address the concept of holding his personal details to ransom like that. That's what Daniel Brandt does, and he gets vilified for it. This absolutely does not go back up. It's a gross violation of policy and privacy applies to all here. It's that simple. Whatever about JA himself, his mother deserves privacy and protection from random idiots who may decide to call that number. Yeesh!! -
Alison❤21:24, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Just to clarify, I was not the person who originally found that phone number. Someone else posted it on the mailing list about a month ago, and I put it in the LTA report, citing the mailing list post as a source.
*** Crotalus ***21:57, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
I know who found it, and am aware of all the details. However, this does not belong on Wikipedia. Thanks for clarifying, but please don't post personal information on an editor or unrelated private individual to WP again. Thanks -

HI there. I'm trying very hard to not get involved on-wiki right now (regardless of what Mr. Shankbone implies). I've no admin/checkuser/oversight abilities any more. I mightn't have seen/got your email as my old wiki gmail account is largely dormant now. Can I suggest you contact the

Alison❤03:43, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll give it a look, but we need the likes of you back. Trust me on this. Look at my edit history and you'll see an ebb and flow of activity. I was low level active for some time, ramped it up when I got focused on a few key topics, dialed it back for a while to keep perspective, and since then just go with the flow. That is to say, I feel a responsibility to keep building and helping here, but at the same time, I don't worry about taking a month or a few weeks off from time to time to decompress. I know you're trying to break what became a demoralizing/unhealthy habit for you, but just look at the admins like me... you can take back your prior rights and simply declare yourself a worker bee who wants to keep a lower profile for a time, and admins like me can get a hell of a lot more accomplished with people like you active, even at a minimal level.

Hi, sorry for interrupting your wikibreak, but as there's almost nothing happening at gd-wikt so far I doubt you go there too often, and I've no Irish. To the point: I noticed
this edit - the two problems with it are that (1) the name of the language is Seacais rather than *Seiceach (yes, I had it wrong back then as well) and (2) its ISO code is cs rather than *cz. Do you think you could change the template accordingly? To be honest, I was unable to even find it, so much for my PC-literacy ;-)... Thanks, --

For carrying the BLP torch the distance you did. Nobody can do that work forever. 99% of the community will never understand what you've seen and been through and why you care so deeply about the things listed on your user page.
Wow, I can't believe you're leaving us! There's so few checkusers that we can't really afford to lose any. Can't really say that I blame you though; there's so much BS here, (sometimes so little purpose,) and so little reward... The reason I stay is the reason I came in the first place; to try to offset as much of the nonsense that pops up here as possible, and of course because it's a way to kill time. At any rate, it's rather sad to see an established admin as you leave; it's almost like seeing a teacher or faculty member quit at school whose been there a while.

How do you change the world? You can start by writing an incredible article for the world's encyclopedia. Moni3 kicks it old school again with
Stonewall riots - a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations against a police raid that took place in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969 at the
Stonewall Inn. [...] [T]hey have become the defining event that marked the start of the
gay rights movement in the United States and around the world. It's a featured article hitting the mainpage this Sunday to mark the 40th anniversary of the events. So first off, wow! Clever and cool. Moni3 has been recently named hottest delegate to Obama's bookclub but that may not be official yet. (Shhh!)
Otto4711 mentioned that gee we really should swamp the DYK section with LGBT-related articles for use on the 28th as well. We have eight or so in the
holding area and if you push yourself to get an article together you might be able to get in on the fun. Do this now!
The official rules for DYKs can be found
here. Once you have expanded an article 5-fold or created an article with at least 1,500 characters of prose, place your DYK thread
here. Use
this handy tool to count your 1,500 characters. As a suggestion, when you add your potential hook, include the character count and a link to the source(s) that confirm the hook. These will be confirmed anyway but may help.
The layout for the individual quotes is
here (just copy/paste into one of the red links on
Portal:Transgender/Random quote). Then
this counter has to be upped to match the new # of total quotes (not counting quote zero).
Obama proclamation
On June 1,
President Barack Obama declared June 2009 Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, citing the riots as a reason to "commit to achieving equal justice under law for LGBT Americans". Excerpts at the bottom.
F*ck me I'm famous
I was interviewed by Wikipedia Signpost, the weekly in-house newsletter, for the
WikiProject report. The Signpost has nearly 1,000 Wikipedian subscribers and arguably many of those folks actually read it. It came about rather quickly and my worst fears - that it was an elaborate hoax by a troll - were apparently unfounded. I hope y'all feel I did fine by the project, I did my best to avoid the phrase "
man-humping, cock-sucking, doggy-style loving queer" but otherwise did ok.

The project had at one point another channel at #LGBTprojectconnect but as the original people associated with the setting up and administration of that channel have seemed to have disappeared, this new channel has been set up. Plus the new channel is inline with required naming conventions for Wikipedia related IRC channels. So, feel free to use this channel. Such a channel gives opportunity to discuss the latest happening on articles, the LGBT project itself, latest happening in your life with "wiki-friends" here, etc.. You can say things on there you normally wouldn't here on Wikipedia (keeping it civil of course) like talk about the latest hot guy/girl or tell a joke.. you get the point.
