Ah - I should have mentioned - we need something other than his autobiography to verify notability. If he's not covered by reliable third party sources, I doubt he warrants a Wikipedia article. Nothing personal, I promise!

Could you link the webpage, please? I would preferably prefer three or more reliable sources, linked to the page you found them from.

WikiProject Apple Inc.'s Backlog Elimination Drive
As the coordinator of the WikiProject Apple Inc.
Backlog Elimination Drive for May 2010, I would like to thank you for your active participation in the drive.
I am writing to inform you that we have made great progress in eliminating unassessed articles. Remember the drive ends June 10, so keep working!
Once again, thank you for participating, and we look forward to a meaningful drop in the numbers due to your hard work and efforts.
Come to ##trode an chat with me if you'd like. Btw, every so often, please
run the bot for Apple Inc.'s stats to stay up to date.
mono21:58, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Every 3 days, however we're moving faster than that. I also like Dab solver and Checklinks.
mono22:26, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, as I don't have access to the bot, we'll have to live with it. I also like dab solver and checklinks as well as custom regex, which I use to fix dashes.

Thanks in a large part to Ego Dodo and (yes, me), we've gone from over 500 unassessed to under 200 in less than 3 days. LET'S GOOO! :)
Airplaneman ✈21:56, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations on your great work helping clear the backlog of unassessed articles for
WikiProject Apple Inc.! It was a pleasure working with you, I would give you a shiny barnstar but I think
Mono will take care of that

Thanks! You did great work as well, and so did the other participants and
Fetchcomms. Next, on to B class checklists! (I think I'm going to do some work on
Macintosh first, though). I, as well, enjoyed working with you.

WikiCup 2010 May newsletter
We are half way through round 3, with a little under a month to go. The current overall leader is Sasata (
submissions), who has 570 points. He leads pool C. Pools A, B and D are led by Hunter Kahn (
submissions), Sturmvogel_66 (
submissions) and White Shadows (
submissions) respectively. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at
Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the
WikiCup talk page.
Two of last year's final 8, Theleftorium (
submissions) and Scorpion0422 (
submissions), have dropped out of the competition, saying they would rather their place went to someone who will have more time on their hands than them next round. On a related note, a special thank you goes to White Shadows (
submissions) for his help behind the scenes once again. There is currently a problem with the poster, perhaps caused by the new skin- take a look at
this discussion and see if you can help. The competition has continued to tick over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. Good luck to all! As the coordinator of the WikiProject Apple Inc.
Backlog Elimination Drive for May 2010, I would like to thank you for your active participation in the drive.
I am writing to inform you that we have assessed all project articles. We thank all of our participants, as we couldn't have done it without you!
Once again, thank you for participating, and we appreciate the meaningful drop in the numbers due to your hard work and efforts. Awards will be delivered soon to our participants!
Hey again! When I was looking through the newly assessed articles I noticed that we'd both assessed some redirects as Redirect or NA. When I did a bit of research and asked on IRC it seemed to me that most other WikiProjects were simply redirecting the talk pages and removing project banners, so I
went ahead and did that for the articles that I could find using
this list (
edits here). I hope that's all fine with you, and if it's not then I'll be happy to discuss it with you and other project members so we can reach an agreement over what should be done with talk pages of redirects. -
EdoDodotalk18:29, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
That is kind of a trade-off. I'm not sure about it; it doesn't exactly matter. I recommend using the banner, then adding {{softredirect}} to the other talkpage.
mono18:35, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Hmm... I don't think we should have the project banner on redirect talk pages at all, because that would simply make too many pages to "maintain" (there wouldn't effectively be anything to maintain but they'd still be getting in our lists, and so would waste the time of editors and bots who are making edits to ALL of our pages). Unless there is some reason why a redirect should have a talk page (eg. ongoing discussion about changing the redirect) then it shouldn't even have one – which is why almost all of the redirect talk pages I edited were for articles that were only made redirects after the talk page had been created, and still had the banner left over from before they became redirects. Once the user is redirected to the relevant talk page of the main article then he will see our project banner, and know that the page is maintained by us, I really don't see the need to put our project banner on the actual redirect. Anyway, that's just my opinion, would be nice to hear some more project members to see what consensus is on this. -
EdoDodotalk18:51, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I've been redirecting all talkpages without content besides the banner. If there was content, I would asses as NA class.
Airplaneman ✈18:54, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh okay, makes sense a guess, I preferred to move all talk page content to the main talk page (if it was relevant) and then redirect. -
EdoDodotalk18:58, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I guess that's an option as well. As {{
Cite mac}} doesn't seem to be ready yet, maybe we could start a B class checklist assessment drive sometime soon?
Airplaneman ✈21:25, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Sure, I'd be happy to help out. By the way, how are you currently getting the list of articles that need to be checked for the B criteria? Are you just looking at all C articles and checking the ones that havn't been checked yet or is there a category for it? If there isn't a category perhaps we could add some code to the WikiProject banner template so that all articles that havn't yet been checked for the B article criteria and should be checked (C articles) get added to a category, shouldn't be too difficult. -
EdoDodotalk11:38, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Note: I've created an addition to the current WikiProject banner that would add articles to suitable categories depending on their B class checklist (categories for what issues there are, and if it is need for a B class check). It's at
User:EdoDodo/TemplateSandbox and I'm ready to make it live if nobody disagrees (see
project talk discussion). -

Hello. I'm afraid I decided to decline your speedy deletion nomination of this article because when I googled the name I found sources indicating that the subject had been an Olympic athlete. It's always a good idea to quickly google names such as this, even if the article has very limited content, as notable individuals from developing countries are poorly covered by Wikipedia and, often because of language difficulties, their articles may start from very small beginnings.

Tetobigbrotalk03:08, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello, nice to meet you! Yes, the project leaders have been busy in real life, and I think the election has been postponed indefinitely until the project gets rolling again. When I saw that the elections were to begin soon a few months back, I threw my name in a few days before after seeing that nobody else had volunteered. I'm focusing on
WikiProject Apple Inc. right now and don't have the time to revive the project, although I have
talked to

I understand completely, at the moment I've kind of got a few things going on with Militar History and I don't even really have time to work on the novel articles that I have going right now. I'm trying to get better time management, but it's hard... even if it is only on the computer. And thanks, I'll talk to him.

Hey, Airplaneman. Since you were active in the

I'll look for some - O helpful talk page stalkers, the above needs your attention :). I added a few comments a while back; try to work on those. I'm busy tomorrow but am quite free for the next three months, so I will add additional comments as well. If you haven't already, try to convert every tech spec and everymac tech spec to a single Cite Mac (still can't get that to work).

Thanks for welcoming me to wikipedia! I am a new user, and I have a question about my first entry, named Burnaby Hospital. I used may references and abided by the Wikipedia guidelines, but when I google it in the search engine, it appears only on the 4th page. Usually, the Wikipedia entries are the 2nd or 3rd thing that shows up on Google. What can I do to make it more Search-Engine-Optimized?
(
talk page stalker)The point is not to make the page search-engine optimized. The point is to make it useful to the world, to inform others. It will probably climb up the ranks as people read it more often, so don't worry about it. Brambleclawx17:31, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia; I think I remember
patrollingBurnaby Hospital a few days ago! As for search engine optimization, you and I have no control over that (as Brambleclawx said above). I believe Google's complex search algorithms do, so we can't change that unless you go to Google and help them write the code for their search engine (or Bing or Yahoo! search, for the matter). Many references don't count, sadly; just make sure they are
reliable. All in all, it would be good to look at the
good article criteria to see how you can improve the article you wrote, as well as the huge
manual of style (read it in increments!). Oh, and you can sign comments by typing ~~~~, which will magically produce your username and talk page link when you save. Please ask any other questions if you have any. Happy editing,
Airplaneman ✈18:19, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Some more suggestions:
See
my changes to the article for formatting tips and other things
Burnaby Hospital Foundation could go as a subsection to the Burnaby Hospital page
On your editing toolbar, click the "cite" button. Choose your template, for example Cite web, and fill out the fields. Add the reference, and it should be similar to the way you manually cited it. It's faster and has more features, so you might want to consider using it for future referencing.
Overall, this is one of the best new articles I've seen (especially from a new user!) Most are in dire need of attention or aren't articles (for example, "My friend is cool", etc.) Great work.
Hi, thanks for doing the Reflinking properly on
Jack Mitchell (jockey). I must admit I wouldn't know how to do this - is there a guide, somewhere? Also, one of the links has come up as a dead link, but is working for me (The times online one). Could you possibly fix this, or tell me how I would fix it? Much appreciated.
SmokingNewton(MESSAGE ME)15:16, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Hello! Reflinks is a tool that fills in bare links using cite templates (you can also do this manually, but it takes some time).
WP:REFLINKS is where you need to go. I have it bookmarked because I use it on a regular basis :). I'll check out the dead link (it was tagged by the tool as such) and if it works, I'll fill it out manually.

While i admit my first edit of the 'yorkshire dialect' page (Forgive my lack of link, i haven't edited wikipedia before tonight) was meant as a joke, the second, however, was not. Thank you! I'm doing fine and am enjoying helping out here; how are you? Recently, I've been whacking vandals with
igloo, but that can become boring… other'n that, I've been reviewing some Good articles, patrolling new pages (which is how I ran into Ethancollierwilson) and doing maintenance for
WP:APPLE, mostly. I know you're busy, but seeing that you have reviewed more than a few good articles yourself, may you please spot check
my GA reviews? I've passed all of them; while that might not be bad, necessarily, I just want to make sure I'm not letting any subpar articles through. Hey, maybe I've just been lucky, but it's better to be cautious :)
Airplaneman ✈04:26, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
It's an odd one- I've seen people do that once, but never multiple times, but I'll AGF for a little longer. How is Igloo? I've never used it, though NSD managed to report himself to AIV with it! I'll be happy to take a look at your reviews, but it'll have to wait until I've had some sleep! Are you enjoying the GA reviewing? I almost always find it to be quite a rewarding process.
HJ Mitchell |
Penny for your thoughts? 04:46, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I had decided to stop AGF-ing by reporting him to AIV :(. Maybe it was a bit too soon. Igloo is nice in that you don't have to install anything on your computer; it works in your browser. It is not nearly as full-featured as Huggle, though, and is in Alpha testing, so it can be buggy. It is easy to use, though, and gets the job done. As for GA reviewing, I've been lucky to have cooperative nominators (this really helps push the review along) who have nominated fairly "good" articles. It has been rewarding and I aim to continue to chip away at the GAN backlog. Thanks for offering to take a look at my reviews; please don't hold back any criticism (hey, it can't get as bad as RFA
).
Airplaneman ✈12:32, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Erm... not sure, as he has a grand total of 29 edits :(. Maybe after a few weeks of heavy editing and gaining more experience :)

I was watchlist checking after being away all of yesterday due to a concert, and I you notified an IP user of a speedy of a page called Homework2. Judging by the other entries in my watchlist, I'm guessing it was an attack page against Hereforhomework2 after they reverted vandalism, wasn't it? (just trying to piece together the action I missed). Brambleclawx22:32, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
On an unrelated note, I notice that the Warriors quality statistics have not been updated since they switched over to the new bot. (its on the WikiProject Warriors talk somewhere). Do you think this is an issue that needs to be brought up with WP:1.0? Brambleclawx22:40, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
"I you notified" - I'm interpreting that as "I saw you notified" :) - and yes, I notified them, but it wasn't an attack page - it was junk, but not attack-like or anything. If I can remember correctly, it said something like, "Who is Homework2?" or something silly like that.

I want to help the backlog get smaller. I would love to review, but I dont know that much about it. Also, I know I can't review anything I made major edits to. --Nascar199618:26, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, since it looks like you have written quite a few good articles yourself, take a look at the reviews for those pages. Looking over
WP:GA? and
WP:RGA is also beneficial.
WP:GAN/M lists people who are experienced and willing to mentor new reviewers (although I'm not a mentor, if you want, we can even pick up an article and do a joint review!). Does that answer your question?
Airplaneman ✈18:38, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
So far it has helped me a lot adn has answered my question, but how can you tell if the article has any edit wars? A joint review also sounds great!--Nascar199618:45, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
A good thing to do would be to look in the article's history. If there is tons of vandalism and people are constantly reverting, then it is not stable. I consider a page unstable if the vandalism or edit warring (view a couple diffs - are people undoing each other over and over again?) warrants a request at
WP:RPP. OK, joint review it is! When would you like to start (I'm free from Saturday onwards; will be gone tonight and most of tomorrow)?
Airplaneman ✈18:49, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Anytime until August 19, 2010, when I restart school. I have been out of school since June 2, 2010, and I have been on Wikkipedia staring at my Watch List because mostly during the week I have almost nothing to edit. For the joint review, I would prefer that it would not be on any of these
days. Thanks for the advice! --Nascar199618:58, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
