Usage

  • First parameter

The first unnamed parameter takes either a Pokémon's name or National Pokédex number. By default the template will convert one to the other.

An optional second unnamed parameter is available to select alternate outputs. The list of currently supported conversions is listed below.

hoenn Hoenn pokédex number
sinnoh Sinnoh pokédex number

Parameter requirements

The parameters are not case-sensitive, nor is the first unnamed parameter leading-zero sensitive.

Misspelling a Pokémon's name, entering an invalid number, or specifying an unsupported second parameter will create an error.

Technical information

  • This template generates an empty string output if you request a number output that does not exist.

{{User:Zappernapper/Pokeconvert|Glaceon|johto}}

  • Pokémon's names will always have the first letter captialized.
  • This template attempts to allow for format variations in entering the following names, the list below provides a reference for those names in their accurate formatting if users are having problems with them.
    • Mr. Mime
    • Mime Jr.
    • Porygon2
    • Porygon-Z
  • The male and female Nidoran are a special case as some people are unable to type the ♀ or ♂ symbols. These symbols are used by the template internally, but the following formats are also accepted for either male or female forms.
    • nidoranf
    • nidoran(f)
    • nidoran f
    • nidoran (f)
    • nidoran female
    • nidoran (female)
  • Currently this template does not support conversions based on other pokédex numbers or Japanese names, but this is a future possibility, the current format was written to be extensible, so hopefully this will be available one day in the future.
