The 609th Air Communications Squadron (609 ACOMS ) is a
communications squadron of the
United States Air Force assigned to
Shaw Air Force Base ,
South Carolina with the mission of supporting the
609th Air Operations Center . The 609th Air Communications Squadron led the Air Force's communications planning for
Operation Iraqi Freedom , directly supporting USCENTAF/A6 in war planning and preparations.

The unit formerly had Detachment 1 at the AFCENT
Combined Air and Space Operations Center ,
Al Udeid Air Base .
