The list of Sonic characters

Sage is created by Sachiko Kawamura and desgined by Yoshitaka Miura, who thanks to their long history with the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, their main rule for creating new characters is to ensure the character design doesn't feel disarrange from existing characters. While they also created other characters for Sonic Frontiers, they aimed to create a character with the impression of a young girl who is mystical and mysterious. They paid special attention to her proportions, to make sure she fits in the franchise and how players would perceive her. ^[1]

Sage served as an impartial antagonist in the 2022 video game Sonic Frontiers. She commands an array of AI enemies to battle Sonic and prevent him from continuing his quest of finding the Chaos Emeralds. He attempts a reason with Sage, while she plays both sides and is told by Dr. Eggman to keep supervision on the protagonists. As the game progress, Sonic continually try to call a truce with her which made her had thoughts about what side she’s on, and flickers her default state into a lighter outfit. ^[2]
