Machine translation, like
DeepL or
Google Translate, is a useful starting point for translations, but translators must revise errors as necessary and confirm that the translation is accurate, rather than simply copy-pasting machine-translated text into the English Wikipedia.
Consider adding a topic to this template: there are already 938 articles in the

From
Campinas,
São Paulo State, Juliana de Paula-Souza graduated from the Agricultural College (
ESALQ)
University of São Paulo in
Agronomy in 1988 and proceeded to a
master's degree in plant biology at the same institution in 2002, with a thesis titled Estudio de las Especies de Hybanthus Jacq. (Violaceae) de Brasil. In 2009 she obtained her
PhD from the Instituto de Biociências at that university, her doctoral thesis being titled Estudios filogenéticos en Violaceae, con énfasis en la tribu Violeae y revisión taxonómica de los géneros Lianescentes de Violaceae en la Región Neotrópical.[2]
Her
postdoctoral work was carried out at the Museu de História Natural e Jardim Botânico,
Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais as a Visiting Research Scholar (2009–2010) at the University of São Paulo (2011-2012) and at
Ohio University (2013–2014).[3] At Ohio (where she had previously worked in 2008 as a visiting research scholar), she studied with Harvey Ballard (Environmental & Plant Biology Department) on Brazilian violoid violet genera,
molecular systematic approaches, and Ballard's collaborative Violaceae phylogeny project, before returning to the University of São Paulo.[4] In 2011 she was a Bascom Fellow at the
Missouri Botanical Garden.[1] in 2013–2014, she returned to Ohio to do further research on Violaceae with the Ballard laboratory, including travel to major
herbaria.[4][5]
Juliana de Paula-Souza is known for her work on the systematics of
Phanerogams (spermatophytes), predominantly
taxonomic and
phylogenetic studies and
floristic surveys in Violaceae,[3] notably the
neotropicallianescent genera, including Hybanthus and Hybanthopsis.[8][9][5] Her initial work on Hybanthus led to her describing a similar but distinct genus, Hybanthopsis, which she described in 2003. Her survey of the neotropical lianescent genera led to a revision of the genus Anchietea[10][11] and recognition of new species of Anchietea[12][13] Revision of another lianescent genus, Corynostylis led to reestablishment of an earlier name Calyptrion.[14] De Paula-Souza was a co-author of the major treatment of the family[15] in
Kubitzki's Flowering Plants monograph and she published an overview of the lianescent genera.[16] de Paula-Souza's work on the
evolution and phylogeny of Violaceae project also led to a major realignment of the infrafamilial relationships based on molecular methods.[17]
