WikiProject Pakistani cities
Guys, can you add a place in this template for
WikiProject Pakistani Cities? We really need to have a place for that workgroup as we can then categorise all Pakistani cities under the authorisation of this task force. Have a look at this page for example:
Talk:Mumbai...in the WP India template, it lists in sub-headlines of who else mantains the article i.e this article maintained by the Indian cities workgroup and so on....I want a similar one for the Pakistani cities workgroup too. —Preceding

This template appears in many pages with multiple WikiProjects. Can any editor edit the template to implement the "nesting=yes" parameter so that it can be used in the composite template. —

This is the only way for the collaborative effort of WP Pakistan and WP India to create WP Punjab can help. On
User talk:Nobleeagle, Nichalp has explained this to me. If WP Pakistan does not want to comply then I might as well stuff the idea of WP Punjab and instead create WP Punjab (India) only. —Nobleeagle [TALK] [C]06:12, 28 February 2007 (UTC)reply
Frankly, I couldn't really get your point. I say you can put a separate banner for WikiProject Punjab (which covers Punjab region divided among two countries) on Punjab related Pakistani articles.
Szhaider07:04, 1 March 2007 (UTC)reply
OK, it seems a bit of misunderstanding and bad blood has created an issue when there really wasn't one. The fact is that Punjab split into seperate entities in 1947. So for post-1947 articles, the {{WP India}} template just says that "This article is supported by the Punjab workgroup" while for pages pre-1947 {{WP Punjab}} is used. {{WP Pakistan}} doesn't support that option through your reverts, so you are saying that {{WP Punjab}} will have to be used on post-1947 Pakistan-related articles. —Nobleeagle [TALK] [C]07:16, 1 March 2007 (UTC)reply
Only if you want to use {{WP Punjab}}. Right now, I am not as much interested in a child project when parent project is anything but complete. In my opinion, {{WP Punjab (Pakistan)}} (which apparntly needs to be created) could be more appropriate with that Punjab Task-force addition in it. I want to put all of my focus on repairing and completeing WikiProject Pakistan pages (not the articles which it covers). After that, I will discuss (if not banned) with other members of the project about proposals of expansion of the project. I have rejected some proposals from Pakistani editors because I thought they were not practical right now. Thanks to them, those editors understood my point and actually helped me.

B - class criteria
How about adding B - class criteria list in the template, like many other projects? It will certainly lead newbies that what an article is lacking. --

Please replace the line <tr><td colspan="2"><div style="background: wheat; font-size: 120%; text-align: left;">Comments</div><div>{{{comments|}}}</div></div></td></tr> with the following:<tr><td colspan="2"><div style="background: wheat; font-size: 120%; text-align: left;">Comments</div><div>{{{comments|}}}</div></td></tr>. That is, remove the stray div end tag. Thanks. —

Not sure I agree with protecting this template; was it the subject of vandalism?
At any rate, there is something wrong with its syntax. Look at my three most recent edits to
Talk:Roma people. This template breaks the {{WPBS}} template when it is nested within. It only displays correctly if this template is the last WikiProject template in the list.

I've put a new version of this template in the
/sandbox using the meta-template {{WPBM}}. Are they any comments about using it? Are there any other features which should be incorporated? One thing I'm not sure about is the B-class checklist, because the current one use a non-standard one. Would there be any problem about using the standard 6-point checklist (see
WP:BCLASS)? — Martin (

Yes, it is a weakness of this template. Perhaps we could move to using |history=yes and |music=yes rather than the current |H|M ? — Martin (

The template is currently using a B-class checklist (check the documentation) so articles need to be assessed to be classified as B-class. This can be removed if the WikiProject does not want it. — Martin (

Agreed, most other WikiProjects don't have a B-criteria checklist anyway, and articles are rated C only if specified. This template should follow the same procedure. Besides, there are some articles which are B-class yet they are listed as C because someone hasn't bothered to fill the checklist. This parameter is inaccurate

I have added some projects at
Template:WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox which were deemed inactive because they have not been added to this template. Some of them seem to have existed in mainspace for almost 2 years. I plan to make them active by starting their tagging. It is a request if you could please add the changes I have made on
Template:WikiProject Pakistan/sandbox and paste them here as a start. Thanks!

It's probably not a good idea to use quality and importance ratings, because none of the categories exist. (And probably not worth the effort to create them all if the projects are not even active.) — Martin (

I have noted your suggestion and have removed the quality and importance parameters for now. This leaves us with only the main_cat categories now. Thanks for the feedback; cheers!

Your version seems to overwrite this functionality. I am wondering if this is intentional or not? By the way, have you discussed any of these changes with the Pakistan WikiProject? — Martin (

Sorry; I thought that way I would attract a quicker response though since it's obvious that you've got this page under your watch, I will post any future interactions here. Cheers.

Apparently, yes, I overwrote that bit intentionally. I think those parameters are unneccessary and not of much use anymore - they're hardly used by anyone (as their categories reveal) and don't serve any specific purpose. Besides, I haven't seen any other country project templates which employ the use of similiar notes. There are actually independent task forces for Pakistani politics, history, sport in case you haven't seen (abandoned obviously) which deserve to potentially replace those codes, but I am not really focusing on those projects at the moment and they may as well just remain closed in a dusty bookshelf for the time being. My concentration for now is based on the abandoned regional task forces. If it is possible, I would prefer you overwrite those codes because they are pretty much useless.

The instructions don't inform what parameters to use for adding an article to the various sub-projects. Also, the X parm doesn't seem to be working, see

I have added the instructions for adding article to a sub-project. Also updated the categories for the X variable (previous categories were deleted) but if consensus is not to add the X parameter back, instructions for that can be removed. --

Not done for now: It appears that you have made changes to a version of the sandbox from four years ago, one that has not been kept up to date with the live template. This means that recent changes to the live template will be undone if the sandbox is copied live; so please copy the live template to the sandbox, then make your changes there. --

Template-protected edit request on 25 July 2021
This
edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request.
I cannot unambiguosly state my request as I have little experience with templates, but I have noticed that there are parameters such as listas for which no explanation has been given, photo-needed and needed-photo (duplicate params, which to use), and other parameter oddities. Could someone fix this? Thanks.
