Why isn't there a Template:Italic title suffixed? I understand the same effect can be accomplished with DISPLAYTITLE, but if we have this template the other case might as well be handled by a special template too. – CWenger ( ^ • @) 16:15, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
I am wondering why the template does not seem to work on long titles like Russian submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy (K-211) or Russian submarine Svyatoy Georgiy Pobedonosets (K-433). Is there a limit on the number of characters? Both article titles have more than 50. ÄDA - DÄP VA ( talk) 09:03, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

It would be useful for Template:Italic title prefixed ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to take a length of italicization or end of italicization position parameter, to go with the start parameter, to set the length of middle-of-string italicization; instead of italicizing to the end. This would help with non-parenthetical disambiguation, such as using commas, or Fooian Xname-class vesseltype (year) style article titles. -- 64.229.90.32 ( talk) 23:20, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
{{Italic title|string=Xname}}
