Manufacturer field

Some cheeses are made by only one manufacturer, and sometimes the cheese name is different from that of the maker. Would it be useful to have a field for the maker? Bongo matic 01:48, 1 February 2010 (UTC) reply

Rennet

With so many different kinds of rennet substitutes (microbial, vegetable) shouldn't that be one of the infobox sections? Infoeco ( talk) 01:00, 11 July 2011 (UTC) reply

Rather than specify the type of rennet (that may be too specific for an infobox), I would support adding a "vegetarian: yes/no" label. Conejero intl ( talk) 16:55, 22 November 2019 (UTC) reply

Include an imagecaption?

It's a fairly standard field and I'm wondering why it's not there. Lockesdonkey ( talk) 15:06, 23 September 2014 (UTC) reply

Semi-broken parameter

@ Northamerica1000, Shkuru Afshar, and Hike395: Greetings and felicitations. I can see that it's been a while since some of you have edited this template, but all of you are still active on Wikipedia as of this month. Would someone please be so kind as to fix the pasteurised/pasteurized= parameter? The latter spelling works, but it gives the editing preview warning: "Preview warning: Page using Template:Infobox Cheese with unknown parameter 'pasteurized'". I'm afraid I am too unfamiliar with the markup to make the necessary change(s). — DocWatson42 ( talk) 03:10, 10 June 2022 (UTC) reply

@ DocWatson42:Hi buddy.
Please review and give me a feedback.

link to commons

The Manual of Style says links to sister projects should be in the last section of article; why is there a link in infobox? GraemeLeggett ( talk) 18:59, 21 July 2022 (UTC) reply

I think we could interpret the MOS to allow an interwiki link in the infobox. Certainly, WP:MOSSIS directs us to generally put IW links in the EL:
Sister project links should generally appear in the "External links" section, or where appropriate in citations.
In another place, the MOS discourages sister wikilinks in article body text itself to avoid confusion (although does not talk about infoboxes). From MOS:IWL:
To avoid reader confusion, inline interlanguage, or interwiki, linking within an article's body text is generally discouraged.
However, the content guidelines generally supports external links in infoboxes, e.g., from WP:EL#Important points to remember:
...include appropriate external links in an "External links" section at the end of the article, and in the appropriate location within an infobox, if applicable.
I think we need to reach a consensus about whether a Commons link in this infobox is net helpful for our users. If the consensus is "helpful", then I think we can use WP:EL to support the inclusion. If necessary, we can start a discussion at WT:SIS to allow IW links in infoboxes.
What do other editors think? Is the link helpful or not worth the space in the infobox? — hike395 ( talk) 03:14, 22 July 2022 (UTC) reply
