Middag
I propose to remove
Kingdom of Middag from the list of historical periods because:
the date of 1540 is unfounded; nothing is known of Middag before the Dutch arrived.
there is no reason to single them out from among the 11 "shires or provinces" in David Wright's account from the 1640s.
The end date of 1732 apparently has no basis either; it is just the date the Qing suppressed a rebellion in the area.

The Republic of Formosa was a short-lived regime, not a historical period. In Taiwan's history textbooks, it is included in the
Japanese rule period as just one of the anti-Japan events.
The regime had never ruled Taiwan for one single day. Placing it in the chronology can mislead readers into believing that it ruled Taiwan. --

I agree. Histories of Taiwan do not treat this as a period, and the largely notional "republic" lasted only 12 days, though resistance to the Japanese takeover lasted several months.
