Percy Grainger's In a Nutshell suite, The Daily Telegraph argued that the
marimba, then new to the orchestra, sounded inferior to the
xylophone? Source: "Queen's Hall". The Daily Telegraph. 31 January 1921. p. 4. "[...] the marimbas and nabimba, and so forth, that Grainger uses; they certainly were not worth the while, and the mock glockenspiel and mock xylophone were not as good in quality of tone and power as the genuine articles."
