Further comment: The arena in question isn't specifically the Colosseum, it might need to be reworded in the lede to be less precise. Acroterion(talk) 01:41, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
Overall: @
Jengod:Impressively-researched article, but the hook is a little flat. I've suggested something that more directly addresses the content. AGF on paraphrasing and copyright, given the extensive referencing and size of the article. Acroterion(talk) 02:14, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
I think the alt is great. Thanks for the suggestion. I changed Coliseum in the lede to arena; I was thinking of asking WikiProject Greek and Roman people to review but I wasn't sure if it was like asking if a Looney Toon was historically accurate LOL.

Well, I'm an architect, so it's in my field of competence! If you don't mind, I'll, finish up tomororow, I'm about to sign off. Acroterion(talk) 03:08, 31 July 2023 (UTC)
I think we agree on the ALT 1 hook. Good to go. Acroterion(talk) 00:39, 1 August 2023 (UTC)

jengod and
Acroterion: Unfortunately, reviewers can't approve the hooks they propose, and it looks like this one falls afoul of
WP:DYKFICTION. Could another hook be found?

Clearly I’ve been away from DYK for too long. I guess I’ll need to withdraw my approval, and if I suggest another hook, to recuse. Acroterion(talk) 04:37, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
Sure thing. Here are three options; let me know if you want others or need citation elaboration
theleekycauldron; I think I like alt4 best, then alt2 and alt3, but whatever works for you guys is fine w me :
source: Browne, Stephen Howard (2008). "Andrew Johnson and the Politics of Character". In Medhurst, Martin J. (ed.). Before the Rhetorical Presidency. Presidential Rhetoric Series (No. 19). College Station: Texas A&M University Press. pp. 194–212. for transcript of inaugural address, I can get other cites for plebeian if need be
@
jengod: I like ALT2, but it'll need some inline attribution. Could also stamp ALT3; ALT4 does also fall afoul of
WP:DYKFICTION.
