For ALT0: the source says: ... were the only French pilots
. The formulation seems to imply that there were other pilots as well. So the text would need to be adjusted.
For ALT1: the first part is supported by the source. I'm not sure what the clause in which he was only the few to do so
tries to say. Would it make sense to remove that clause?
For ALT2: I found a passage in the source that says that he didn't attend flying school. That doesn't automatically mean that he taught himself. Do you have a quote from the source that confirms this or should the hook be reformulated?
