Should we add JAL charter flights as well, JAL announced they'll increase number of Charter flights this season, they plan to fly 04 times to Zagreb in July, August and early Septembear, can someone verify this and post relevant info about it, thanx :)
Korean Air is also starting 4 charter flights this year and
JAL is to increase its frequency to one flight a week over summer months, last year it had 8 charter flights, this means this year it might have 12 or 16 flights to Croatia.
Please stop! It is all around few charter flights. If possible live it now and after last JAL-747 take off from Zagreb airport I'll remove it from the Article.--

EasyJet flights
Not sure how wikipedia functions on corrections, but the destination airports listed under EasyJet are all wrong. EasyJet DOES NOT fly from Zagreb to London Luton (Wizzair used to do it, the service has been discontinued. EasyJet does fly to LONDON GATWICK (beginning February 11th), there's also a service to PARIS CHARLES DE GAULLE which has been running since December 2010, and another one to DORTMUND in Germany - this service begins on February 17th. All this information is confirmed on www.easyjet.com - it pops up during ticket booking procedures as long as you put ZAGREB as an origin airport.

"Hello. I mentioned your edit on
Zagreb International Airport and read explanation. Just a few words about last case of airport's name. I saw that you're native Croatian speaker so you're able to read Croatian news media. In these past few days, some media reports made a confusion about correct and full name of airport. Articles like these ones
jutarnji and
vecernji are obviously unprofessionally written because journalists don't even know a distinction between terms "airport" and "terminal" or on Croatian "zračna luka" and "terminal". In these article, journalists first publish that the whole airport will be named after president Tuđman (which is normal act in whole world), and then after in their text mention that only a new built terminal will be named (!) "Zračna luka Franjo Tuđman" or in English "Franjo Tuđman Airport" (what a joke!).
So, we can conclude that articles like these ones aren't the best source of information. I think that the only way to get a correct information is official website of Croatian Government (or official Twitter profile). There I found this
document which is accepted at the meeting of Government. At first point in document, it is clear that Government renamed airport, not the terminal. The name of airport, according to Government decision in document, is "Zračna luka Franjo Tuđman/Airport Franjo Tuđman".
However, the new terminal of airport is mentioned at explanation of Govrnm. decision. But in goal to achieve a finish of this discussion and resolve misunderstandings, I suggest to hear what a competent Minister who proposed renaming of airport said in video:
About name of airport at 0:17 ..."Čitav kompleks (eng. The whole complex)...nove i stare zračne luke/terminali(eng. of new and old airport/terminals)...će se zvati po prvom hrvatskom predsjedniku(eng. will be named after first Croatian president). So, the new terminal will not be only named after president Tuđman but the whole airport.
Sorry for eventually taking your time but I hope that I help you with these informations if you were maybe misguided. Best regards,

The officla website shows the name of the airport is "Zagreb International Airport". I've moved the article back to this name and requested protection until the change gains consensus.--JetstreamerTalk10:06, 1 March 2016 (UTC)reply
Hi, Jetstreamer. I'll try to explain name dispute once again and show that this situation isn't complicated or doubtful at all. Croatian Government officially renamed Zagreb Airport (whole airport, not just terminal - you can read about that in my post up there in this section) on 25 February 2016.
A document about airport's name government uploaded on the same day on
Cro Govrnm Twitter profile. Media reports followed decision of Government; some of articles
Media report - Croatian Radiotelevision,
Nova Television,
Media report on English. You can see in that government's document at second and third point the following sentences: "II. Zadužuje se Ministarstvo pomorstva, prometa i infrastrukture da koordinira aktivnosti za provedbu točke I. ove Odluke. (eng. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure has an obligation to coordinate the activities of the implementation of Article I of this Decision.)" ... "III. Ova Odluka stupa na snagu danom donošenja. (eng. This Decision shall enter into force upon its adoption.)". So, it is clear that the official airport's name is Airport Franjo Tuđman, that this name already entered into force and that is necessary some period for implementation of decision (and for official website among other things).

One more important thing about property relations of an airport at Zagreb that even many people in Croatia don't understand partially. Republic of Croatia has been all the time fully owner of the airport. After Croatia's independence in 1991, the name of airport was always and only "Zračna luka Zagreb/Zagreb Airport". A company that operated the airport until 2013 had a name "Zračna luka Zagreb d.o.o./Ltd.". In 2011 Government of Croatia decided to give all complex of the airport in a concession. ZAIC consortium received the concession and took obligation to build a new passenger terminal and improve business and management results. After giving the concession, Republic of Croatia has been still a fully owner and has had a right, for example, to rename official airport's name in any time if they want so. ZAIC consortium has been registered in London and because of that it couldn't operate the airport in Croatia. Subsequently, it has registered a new company "Međunarodna zračna luka Zagreb d.d/Zagreb International Airprot j.s.c." in Croatia for operating the airport. This new company has got all management rights from former operating company "Zračna luka Zagreb d.o.o" in 2013. So it means that today an owner of Airport Franjo Tuđman (former name Zagreb Airport) is a state, Republic of Croatia, a concessionaire is ZAIC consortium and company that operates the airport is Zagreb International Airport.
Finally, current title of this Wikipage "Zagreb International Airport" is totally inappropriate because it is only a name of company that operates the airport and if we leave like it is now then we have to write about utterly different topic, about CEO, share capital of a company and so on. A real name of airport was Zagreb Airport until 2016 when Croatian government renamed the airport after president Franjo Tuđman.

Jetstreamer, you're right that change of website doesn't exist and I also have some information that change would not be taken in the future. But, this is the website of operator "Zagreb International Airport jsc" and they have no reason to change anything beacuse they are named and also will be named like that in the future. It is similar situation like Paris-CDG Airport and its operator Aeroports de Paris. If you search for Charles de Gaulle Airport's website, you will not find the site under the official name but under the name of the operator [
Aeroports de Paris].
Accordingly, I suggest for topic's name - Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport - and hope that you'll accept it. I consider that this version will be optimal because it has city feature, person feature, it is in accordance with mentioned and neighboring cities and finally it's not too long. Rgds,

But in that case, what about all mentioned airports? They aren't in accordance with
WP:COMMONNAME if we strictly follow this criteria. Please tell me how can Ljubljana Airport exist in a form Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport but Zagreb cannot? Btw, current topic's name shouldn't exist in this form anymore. An adjective "International" is inappropriate, i.e. incorrect. I have already written about that.

That's interesting, there seem to be several different precedents regarding this. Since the articles with the shortened names are all in the US and the ones with the full names are all in Europe, I guess the full name would be okay.
ansh66623:29, 30 March 2016 (UTC)reply
Jetstreamer, thank you for taking a part of discussion all the time and I respect your choice to prefer shortened names of airports. In this case, only what we have to do is to avoid double standards regarding to mentioned airports. There is no reason that airports of all listed capitals (except Gdansk) have one form of name but just Zagreb some different form. However, ok, let's wait few days.

FFS, this wikipedia is full of examples that accuracy is more important than some commonality, from
HIV/AIDS or
Martin Luther King Jr. onwards.
WP:COMMONNAME can be (and/or should be) redirect to full, official name, in this case.
Bill Clinton (not: William Jefferson Clinton) - because enwiki tends to keep names of people to firstname-lastname pair wherever possible, and Bill Clinton is surely clear enough denominator without Jefferson in the middle
Bono (not: Paul Hewson) - because Bono is known probably to hundreds of millions of people, and Paul Hewson is known probably to hundreds. Period.
Cat Stevens (not: Yusuf Islam or Steven Georgiou) - Steven Georgiou? What? Never heard of.
But as stated above,
Martin Luther King Jr. and
HIV/AIDS are clear examples that article names can be longer, more descriptive, although Martin Luther King would surely not be mistaken for anybody else than Martin Luther King Jr., or
AIDS would not be mistaken for any other disease but that caused by
HIV, even if name would be just
AIDS.
Yes, names should be common, but they should be also distinctive enough, and Zagreb actually have two airports, although only one of them is international. If Zagreb (Lučko) airport by chance become international, should encyclopedia (wikipedia) change article names of both articles, one related (Zagreb (Lučko) airport) and one not related (MZLZ "Franjo Tuđman")? Once again, yes, names should be common, but that commonality should be adhered to with some sense, with some brains attached to. Finally,
WP:COMMONNAME says:
Wikipedia generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit the criteria listed above.
I do not see any must or have to above, there is only generally prefers, and that means, once again, commonality should be adhered to with some sense.

Requested move 13 April 2016
The following is a closed discussion of a
requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a
move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved back to
Zagreb Airport for now. The airport does have a new
official name, as
reported by the media just a couple months ago, but
common names are generally preferred over official names as article names. I note that the airport previously was named
Pleso Airport, after the nearby small town named
Pleso. The stub about the town was redirected to the airport on 22 October 2012, but the airport article has never been named "Pleso". However there was a content fork at
Zagreb International airport which was merged to
Zagreb Airport on February 10, 2006. Arguments supporting a move to "Franjo Tuđman" point out that there are several similarly named airports in eastern Europe. However, those tend to have a stronger brand identity based on logos such as
File:Logo gdansk airport.jpg,
File:Warsaw chopin airport logo.png and
File:Aerodrom Beograd - Nikola Tesla (logo).gif, and I have not found a similar logo for this airport. Noting that this new name is connected to the construction of the new Terminal 2, which is expected to open later this year, I suggest waiting until the new terminal opens – perhaps then a new logo will be unveiled, or the website will show the new name, or signs will be erected with the new name, which a local editor may photograph and upload to Wikipedia. However, if the French firm ZAIC which has the concession for this terminal, chooses a different name, we'll probably need to have another discussion. As "International" was added to our title a year ago, following a very thinly attended discussion, and there does not now seem to be a firm consensus for that, I'm reverting to the previous name. Please do submit a new request after the new terminal opens, and hopefully there will be a new logo on the website and signs on and near the terminal to support the move at that time.

Comment - I've just realised (after re-reading the three different venues this has been discussed), that although no consensus was seen here,
Jetstreamer in fact stated on their talk page that they would not block the move; however, I still think it's best to take this to a full RM, as I have done, as it is clearly somewhat controversial. If we do it this way, then nobody can look back afterwards and say that the move was done against consensus. Anyone who wishes to contribute should add lines below this one with "Support", "Oppose", "Comment", etc, and explain their reasoning. Thanks —

Support + Comment - I will repeat my statements concisely. The actual title 'Zagreb International Airport' is inappropriate beacuse it's not a name of airport but of airport's operator. On 25 February this year Croatian Government officially renamed the airport after Franjo Tuđman. Due to other Wikipages of airports in that part of Europe (
Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport,
Warsaw Chopin Airport,
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport,
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and other mentioned) the proposal is Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport that I support. We (participants) have already discuss about all of this materia in previous discussion. It's ok to write again our opinions in this Requested move opened by
Amakuru so everyone can easily read it. Regards,

Oppose I cant see any evidence on the airport website or at the Croatian Civil Aviation Authority site that the name is anything other than Zagreb Airport. If indeed that government have said the name will change I cant find any evidence that anybody at the airport has taken any notice. Perhaps need to wait until it does become the common name but it clearly is not at the moment.

Changes in history secton
I
made thid changes in history setion. I have to go to work so cant add surces now. But with good faith they are not diffcult to find. I just cant understand the ignoring of Aeroput and JAT. The thing even people from Western European countres had to make connections to USA and Canada while Zagreb passangers just neeed to wait for a DC-10 ot earlieir a B707 to come from Belgrade and take them to NY, Chicago, Toronto or MontreL, or even Sydney! The thing is just dont go the way we ha airport in 1908 and he it comes Croatia Airlines flying still in 2017...

Weak oppose: The official name doesn't matter. En-Wikipedia prefers the common name used in independent reliable sources that are written in English. The proposal is contrary to
WP:CONCISE. The official website name is
https://zagreb-airport.hr/, which has a URL that is basically the current article name. The website shows two names on its main page, one of which is the current article name and neither of which are exactly the proposed name (one is "Zagreb Airport" and the other is "Franjo Tuđman Airport Zagreb"). Most travel booking services (e.g., Expedia) and news sources seem to just use "Zagreb Airport". —
