Is this forest the largest planted forest in the world?
It interested me so I googled it and could only find forests which were planted for tree harvesting. Those were much bigger but it's obvious that any comparison between Yatir forest and forests planted for tree harvesting is moot.
Also, there is no mention to the fact that Yatir forest is a breakthrough in foresting for it being planted in such an arid location. Most southern (and arid) in Israel (maybe in the world, though it really depends on what is considered a forest). —Preceding

I've removed that unsourced claim. Seems wrong to me. I don't know enough about the importance of this for foresting, so I can't really write anything about it - why don't you?

This is a very selective choice of sources. The ecology of the Yatir forest is being discussed precisely because the afforestation of the Negev is not only not beneficial to the desert ecology but even massively harmful (see exemplary sources, esp. Prince/Safriel). The (unsurprisingly) finding that the trees really and truly sequester carbon is not a noteworthy research result, but rather serves as a counterargument against these findings and therefore makes little sense on its own in Wikipedia. I'm not sure what to do with this section.
