The source cited as evidence that Churchill was a resident of Windsor says "President Chooses Winston Churchill's Estate Near Windsor, Vt." (emphasis mine) Reading the article quickly demonstrates that this event took place in Cornish, New Hampshire (see opening line of the article), which is identified as being "three miles beyond Windsor, VT".
Churchill's estate was Harlakenden, and resided very firmly in Cornish, New Hampshire, on the side of NH Route 12A. This was where President Wilson stayed when he summered in New Hampshire.
As a scholar of the Cornish and Windsor area, I have never seen any evidence to suggest that Churchill ever lived in Windsor (although he did, at various times, reside in three different Cornish residences). If there is any evidence to suggest this, I would certainly be interested in seeing it. Until such time, I am removing both Churchill and Wilson from the list. insiriusdenial ( talk) 18:08, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
I doubt many people check this page, but some part of me doubts that Windsor, Vermont's nickname is United Pot Smokers and their motto is "Smoke Weed Everyday :)" I may be wrong, but I thought I would throw that out there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.190.130.53 ( talk) 16:19, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm researching the life of a man named Sam Aleckson, who survived slavery in Charleston, South Carolina during the Civil War and eventually published his life story with strong connections to Windsor, Vermont.
Is there any information available pertaining to the reasons why former Southern slaves ended up so far North?
