A fact from Willem Benjamin Craan appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 25 August 2008, and was viewed approximately 1,901 times ( disclaimer) ( check views). The text of the entry was as follows: Did you know... that Tsar Alexander I of Russia was so impressed with Willem Benjamin Craan’s map of the Battle of Waterloo he awarded the Dutch cartographer a precious ring? I preferred the external link, because one may manipulate the map on that site (zoom in and such). But by all means upload a facsimile image to wikicommons and include it here, someone. I couldn't find a portrait of Craan himself, or, better still, his pretty daughter :-)-- Ereunetes ( talk) 20:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC) reply
