Deb: The exact date and the cause of death seem unsourced to me.
Date:
The Rochdale AFC announcement states: "Everyone at Rochdale Football Club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player Wayne Evans on Sunday." This reads to me as if they heard of the death on Sunday, not that it necessarily happened on that day. The County Times article says it happened on the weekend: "WELSHPOOL is mourning the loss of one of its greatest ever footballers following the death of Wayne Evans on the weekend.".
Cause: Neither the club announcement nor the County Times article mention a cause of death?
Hmm. Being Welsh, it reads to me that the death took place on Sunday. Otherwise they would surely have written "to learn on Sunday of". On the other hand, the people who wrote it are footballers, not literary critics. So I'm happy to leave it until an official death notice comes out.
