This article doesn't yet really explain what is extraordinary about this discovery. The drama of the discovery is worth mentioning too. I'm so dull, I can't even remember what the -cephaly term for "cabbage-headedness" in plants is, which ought to be linked.

What is extraordinary (or important, at least) is that this is the oldest known tree. Right? As for drama, I'm not sure what you propose, but wikipedia, as I understand it, doesn't aim to be dramatic in the way that many popular science articles/films/etc are. Certainly not to the point where the drama overshadows what was actually discovered.
