Once again, the Video Game Awards are rigged. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Checkerfacts ( talk • contribs) 03:12, 13 December 2009 (UTC) Try to get some more information with a picture and please try to get the other years to thank you
Why is it a criticism that Spike allegedly avoids nominating Nintendo when last year's GOTY was RE4 and the DS won an award for hardware?
Would be nice to see more information about the events in general, like where they take place / were filmed. I think that the 2007 awards were in the Mandalay Bay - I was on vacation and saw signage for the production staff on the Monday before they occurred, but that doesn't mean that the actual event happened there. Bradenmcg ( talk) 18:32, 10 December 2007 (UTC) It would also be nice to add the Nominees for each of the categories. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.252.4.21 ( talk) 22:17, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

should the 07outcomes be up yet? it hasnt even aired yet?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.156.96.71 ( talk) 02:20, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
The 2007 outcomes are out . . . but some fanboys have been putting up bogus info. GOTY is Bioshock, not Call of Duty 4 as someone posted.03:11, 10 December 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dagman ( talk • contribs)
I know, why would they do that? I had to change it, like, twice already becasue someone first put "Halo 3 biatch", then COD4, and just recently Super Mario Galaxy. Damn kids and their Internet access. Kap2319 ( talk) 04:27, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
"Thier Anti-Nintendo policies were basically proven as fact when Super Mario Galaxy wasn't nominated for Game of the Year, even though it was the second best reviewed game of all time, scoring higher than all the other games on the list by most critics."
This needs to get replaced/removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.56.68 ( talk) 05:49, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
These awards are total shite. But that's just my opinion. The point is that on virtually EVERY gaming blog/site there's criticisms that should be echoed here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.3.18 ( talk) 07:06, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
{{

The Video Game Awards have been heavily criticized since its inception (the first one in particular was universally panned for numerous reasons). One common criticism is that the VGAs are merely a popularity contest. This means that console games are more likely to win or be nominated over PC games. The show has also shown a lack of Japanese gaming in the later years of the show as less Japanese games are nominated or win each year.
In the very first VGAs, Halo on the PC won the best shooter category when it was technically a two year old game ported to another system by this point and should have been an invalid choice. A similar situation arose the next year when Samuel L. Jackson repeatedly referred to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as "Grand Theft Auto 2", though San Andreas is the fifth game in the series. The game was also shown as "Grand Theft Auto 3: San Andreas" when displayed. [2] Also at the first VGAs, Madden NFL 2004 took Game of the Year, though up against titles such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
The 2005 awards had also received criticism for having nominations for Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and 50 Cent: Bulletproof (the latter of which was nominated for game of the year, despite being panned by critics and gamers alike). Both games had just been released when the special had aired, but after the filming, citing the possibility that the show was merely used as an advertising campaign for both games. The same could likely go for letting the TNA iMPACT! video game having a sneak peak at the awards, and possibly not letting WWE video games get nominated, since TNA iMPACT! is a Spike show, in hopes of avoiding more competition.
For the 2010 awards, Super Mario Galaxy 2 failed to earn a nomination for Game of the Year despite being the highest rated game of the year and one of the highest rated games of all time (ranked 3rd according to Game Rankings). [3] StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Bayonetta, Vanquish and a few others, even though rated higher than several of the other titles put up for selection for the Game of the Year nominations. For Best Performance by a Human Male category, Nathan Fillion was nominated for his voiceover role as Sergeant Edward Buck in Halo: Reach, even though he did little voice work and was only for firefight mode if the player chooses Sergeant Edward Buck's voice. Winning the catergory was Neil Patrick Harris for his voice work as Peter Parker/Amazing Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

Is anyone objective to adding in the nominees as well? It'd be nice to be able to see who all was eligible to win each award as well as who took home the gold. -- ZeroAccend ( talk) 22:06, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
This category seems to be missing. I'd fix it but it is locked. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.180.29.246 ( talk) 03:38, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Someone changed the Best Original Score winner from Halo 3: ODST to Modern Warfare 2. Should I change it back? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.99.38.146 ( talk) 07:39, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Note how someone has changed everything about to 2011 winners nominees to "Minecraft". I don't know what they all were but I doubt that Minecraft won "Best racing game". So can someone with the knowledge of these please change them to their actual status. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.174.40.56 ( talk) 14:17, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Who didn't see Neil Patrick Harris winning the best male voice award? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.252.149.183 ( talk) 04:52, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Someone somewhere? I think you've missed the point of this page; Neil winning might of been obvious, but...Is this something relating to anything on the page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.13.185 ( talk) 06:06, 17 December 2010 (UTC) Yes, this shit is rigged to make him win.
While I think the VGA's are an embarrassment Olivia Munn did not exactly say her XBox red-ringed while playing Metal Gear Solid 4. The line (in a complaint to Neil Patrick Harris being host) was, "I was red-ringing three XBox's (pause) watching every god damn cut of Metal Gear Solid 4...". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.161.45.204 ( talk) 07:20, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Removed sentence: " Beginning in 2003, the Spike TV Video Game Awards garnered much attention, since video game awards were not common prior to its introduction. citation needed " Refer to Game of the Year for counterpoint: a plethora of video game awards before its introduction, including from the two largest gaming sites in the world, IGN and Gamespot. Spike certainly did not revolutionize game awards as it would sound.
Here's the list of the VGA Advisory Council as of 2011, a list of 25 gaming journalism figures who pick the nominees and winners of the VGAs. I think this should be added to the article.
Andy McNamara (Editor in Chief, Game Informer Magazine), Brian Crecente (Editor in Chief, Kotaku), Chris Baker (Senior Editor, Wired Magazine), Chris Kohler (Games Editor, Wired.com), Chris Slate (Editor-In-Chief, Nintendo Power Magazine), Christopher Grant (Editor in Chief, Joystiq), Dale North (Editor in Chief, Destructoid), Francesca Reyes (Editor in Chief, Official Xbox Magazine), Gary Steinman (Editor in Chief, GamesRadar), Geoff Keighley (Host, SPIKE), Jeff Gerstmann (Editor in Chief, Giant Bomb), Jeff Jensen (Senior Writer, Entertainment Weekly), Jerry Holkins (Writer / Co-Creator, Penny Arcade), John Davison (VP of Programming, GameSpot & Metacritic), Logan Decker (Editor in Chief, PC Gamer Magazine), Lou Kesten (Reviewer/Editor, The Associated Press), Mike Krahulik (Artist / Co-Creator, Penny Arcade), Mike Snider (Technology Reporter, USA Today), Rich Greenhill (Director of Content and Programming, Yahoo Games), Sam Kennedy (Director of Audience Generation, IGN.com/1UP.com), Scott Alexander (Freelance Writer, Playboy & Family Circle), Shane Satterfield (VP of Content, SPIKE Digital Entertainment), Stephen Totilo (Deputy Editor, Kotaku) Tal Blevins (VP Games Content, IGN Entertainment), Tina Amini (Assistant Editor / Video Games Channel Manager, Complex Magazine)

While I realize this article is 2/3rds tables. I think we need to split this article and have a "List of Spike Video Game Awards" article and give each year its own section there. This page is becoming a beast. Thoughts? — Wylie Coyote 02:31, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
That could work, or something like it. Maybe copy/paste all these tables to the List page, then have just the one table with GotY, SotY, CotY, and maybe a couple others if we think they should be included here. We can also make mention of the big awards that aren't awarded every year, like Gamer God. -- JDC808 ♫ 06:11, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
The article is stretching a bit long. Maybe start branching off new pages for each year? Playhacker ( talk) 05:18, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
