Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun: "The Type 92 Heavy Machine Gun entered service in 1932 and was the standard Japanese heavy machine gun used during World War II by the Imperial Japanese Army and Collaborationist forces."
From this article: "The Type 1 Heavy Machine Gun was the standard heavy machine gun in the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second World War starting from 1941."
Er, the Type 1 and the Type 92 can't both have been "the" standard heavy machine gun of the Imperial Japanese Army during WW II, so which one is it?

I can't help but agree. To this point, a War Department handbook on the Japanese Army issued, I believe, in October of 1944 doesn't even list the Type 1 Heavy Maching Gun, which suggests that it was, at this late date, unknown to Allied intelligence.
