The lead talks of the
Tulip mania but this is not discussed in the text - surely there needs to be a brief section on this? Similarly, reference is made at the end to fine 'broken' tulips but these had not been mentioned until then. Needs tidying, with a section describing the commercial importance of tulips, the virus and the mania, and probably the aftermath too.

Italics
Since "Tulip breaking virus" is not a systematic name or even a single virus, there is no reason to put it in italics. Unfortunately {{
Virusbox}} still applies italics automatically and provides no way to turn them off.

I reverted my removal of italics as it turns out the literature supports this usage. I feel like it's incorrect, but I'm not going to contradict the people who know what they're talking about :)
