I've removed this from the article: In 1994, the 36-volume set costs $17,000. [1]. As of today this, including 3 supplementary volumes, is listed at Abebooks for $1,600. I have been offered this set for substantially less, but this offer is atypical. Eclecticology ( talk) 19:45, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Does the name literally mean "three dogs"?-- 2.245.170.12 ( talk) 11:07, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
Not really. The name "Treccani" comes from the surname of Giovanni Treccani, who was the editor of the encyclopedia. "three dogs" would translate to "tre cani". I can't find any info about the origin of this surname, but it looks like a toponymic surname... Nicelbole ( talk) 13:24, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
