The section (on Byron Williams) that was removed (and now apparently reinstated) and also the Section "Criticism" (which should indeed be similarly removed) have no place in the article on the Tides Centre and should be permanently deleted. Neither section has any relevance to what the Tides Centre is. They do not help define it or describe it. It is akin to putting a section on say, Guy Fawkes, in an envyclopaedic article on the British Houses of Parliament. Barmispain ( talk) 22:16, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
I have removed a section of this article that was about a person arrested in 2010 on suspicion of attacking the Tides Center - it didn't appear directly relevant to this article. It might be suitable for its own article, but that would raise concerns with WP:BLP1E - this didn't seem like a notable event in any case. Robofish ( talk) 20:58, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
I am not sure if I have my info correct or not, but there is a possibility that Tides Center no longer funds the Citizendium Foundation. This may signify that they no longer officially consider Citizendium Foundation as one of their "Current Projects". Could someone who is less prone than myself to goof up the information check on this (if said information is available)? I don't want to take them off the list of "Current Projects" and place them into the first list (projects that started under them) unless that information is accurate. Thanks, 67.182.237.57 ( talk) 00:44, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
I don't understand why Glenn Beck's conspiracy theories get included in this article, yet in regards to Byron Williams, Glenn Beck's involvement in the issue is nowhere to be found? There's just a mysterious reference to "civil discourse" but no connection. Is it really an encyclopedia's job to pussy-foot around the facts for fear you'll upset some Glenn Beck supporters? While Byron Williams did say that Glenn Beck didn't inspire him to do it, it should be noted that Glenn Beck was brought up for a reason. Actually multiple reasons including the facts that Byron Williams claimed Beck "blew his mind" and claimed Beck didn't "do enough" to take care of the Tides Foundation. There are many ties with Byron Williams and Glenn Beck... you just don't find them on Wikipedia for some reason.

Hello, Are any editors willing to help improve the introduction and infobox? The infobox is outdated and inaccurate in places. For example: Tides does not only operate using donor advised funds, it does not have an endowment and it has a new mission statement. To show editors what I have in mind, I prepared the following infobox that could be incorporated:

I also prepared a draft of an introduction that better describes Tides and how it operates. The current introduction paragraph describes Tides as a donor advised fund. While that is one of Tides' services, it does not encompass all Tides does.

Tides is a public charity and fiscal sponsor whose work focuses on social equality, human rights, the environment, education and health. [1] [2] [3] It was founded in San Francisco in 1976. Through donor advised funds, Tides distributes money from donors to other organizations, which are often politically liberal. Tides also offers fiscal sponsorships, management services and manages two centers in San Francisco and New York offering collaborative spaces for social ventures and other nonprofits. Tides comprises separate legal entities, including the Tides Foundation, Tides Center, Tides Network, Tides Two Rivers Fund. [4] References

@ Connor Behan: Thanks for your edits to the infobox. This is looking better already. There are still a few things that need attention. Would you mind reviewing?
Infobox
Introduction
Lastly, the introduction needs some clarification. I think it is important to note that Tides distributes money through donor-advised funds. I recommend the first three sentences read as follows: Tides is a public charity and fiscal sponsor whose work focuses on social equality, human rights, the environment, education and health. [1] [2] [3] It was founded in San Francisco in 1976. Through donor advised funds, Tides distributes money from donors to other organizations, which are often politically liberal.

Hello, Are any editors willing to add Tides' new logo to the infobox? The new logo has been uploaded and can be found here: File:Tides_(organization)_logo.png.

...That Wikipedia is a huge contributor to this organization, though it is rather concealed. This should probably be mentioned, along with the current (2022) Wikipedia executive that ran it for several years. GenQuest "scribble" 07:08, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
