Requested move
Until just a few minutes ago, "The Closer I Get to You" (unadorned) redirected to
Luther Vandross' final album Dance with My Father, which contains a cover version of this song with
Beyoncé Knowles; I changed it to redirect here. To appropriate the title to Luther is unfair not only to the Flack/Hathaway original (the true classic, and not just because Hathaway died a year later), but also to Beyoncé since the cover also appeared on her solo debut Dangerously in Love. A move would put this article in its proper place. --

Support title in its current form is absurdly long and convoluted. At the very most it should be The Closer I Get to You (Song)Ex nihil (

I think the reason for the longer name was that (a) both are songs, thus just adding "(song)" wasn't enough, and (b) someone didn't realize what the redirect was for, either because they didn't look at it or they didn't know the Luther/Beyoncé song was a cover of this one. In any event, that's certainly another good reason for the move. --

More details needed for the Flack/Hathaway version
As a reader, I'm more interested in the original writing and recording of the song. I think the treatment in the article is unfairly slanted to the more recent Vandross/Knowles version. Is there more information about the songwriters out there?
