– The move was conducted in 2013 and though it does follow
WP:COMMONNAME, the move was done incorrectly. Seeing the redirect, the person who moved the page mentioned the reason 'per the discussion at talk page of Thai Airways International'. But seeing archive 1, two persons participated in the discussion and both refused to move the page. And the rationale given by them was, in my opinion, very reasonable i.e. it can easily be confused with
Thai Airways Company. And to also give a general consistency with the accident articles.

Comment: As the person who opposed the original move, I agree that
Thai Airways International is more precise and technically more correct. Since the accident/incident articles are titled Thai Airways International Flight X (and they must be since Thai Airways Flight X refers to the former airline), it would be more intuitive to the reader to also have the main article follow the full name. That said, doing so might cause confusion with the the destinations and fleet articles instead, which has occurred before. At first glance, it's not obvious that the International in "Thai Airways International destinations" is part of the airline's name, and the reader might mistake the title for referring to international (not domestic) destinations of the airline. There doesn't seem to be a perfect solution here. --

Comment Looks like the page has been conducted unilaterally without discussion in 2013. I believe Thai Airways International is the correct or the official name of the airline. They didn't refer itself as "Thai Airways" unless they refer to 1951-1988 domestic airline. When Thai Airways (domestic) merged with International one, they retain the "Thai Airways International" name, as opposed to renaming tobformer.

I know this page was move last December, and I might been interesting with this. And I guess you all know that Thai Airways Company merged with Thai Airways, yes but changing the page to Thai Airways International? I don't think so. I mean it, their website name still used Thai Airways[1]. Sorry if I'm supporting to change the page name to Thai Airways because
this page name won't be confused. And yes, Thai Airways fly from Bangkok to Phuket. So, putting International isn't a necessary at all imo (in my opinion). But feel free to comment here if y'all supporting or opposing. Thanks and happy.. edit I guess?

Weak support. My previous concerns notwithstanding, it does seem that
WP:COMMONNAME and
WP:PRIMARYTOPIC would favour using the shortened name as the article title. (Since
Thai Airways redirects here, potential confusion with
Thai Airways Company wouldn't be different anyway.) I do think that December's reversal of the previous undiscussed move was appropriate, even though the nominator has since been blocked for (unrelated?) sockpuppetry, as there was no consensus in support back in 2013. --

Any Objections on moving the article to Thai Airways as per
WP:COMMONNAME? Thanks --

Yes. Thai Airways probably more accurately refers to
Thai Airways Company, which was a separate airline prior to being merged to form Thai Airways International. Using the name for the current airline could potentially confuse some readers. --

Just a quick look at the website its all branded Thai Airways not Thai Airways International so i think we should be ok. Thai Airways already redirects here anyway. --
JetBlast (

you should not change it because it is an international airline and it is correct even from its time table
it says thai airways international (

why did you block editing this page to 15 august 2013? (

That is explained in the section above.

Edit-war
After reverting the moves against talk page consensus, and the cut-and-paste copy move performed on
Thai Airways International, I have reverted both pages to their original state and fully protected them for a week. This edit-warring can not be allowed to continue. Discuss the name of the article here and if necessary create a
requested move discussion. If the back-and-forth warring continues after the protection expires I will not hesitate to hand out blocks for disruption. If there are any urgent changes that need to be made to this article, please use an edit request to ask for an admin to make them.

Please note that the page is currently locked at the title after the move from
Thai Airways International to
Thai Airways. According to
WP:BRD, the move probably should have been reverted pending further discussion. Either would probably have been
the Wrong Version though. --

Not being funny but it was on the talk page. If there where objections they should have been brought up sooner. --
JetBlast (

Consensus for the August 2013 move is highly dubious. The discussion was not held on
WP:RM. One editor objected to the proposal so the !vote was 1–1, unless you also count the editor who posted the G6 request. The first admin to review that request had second thoughts and restored their deletion after a couple minutes, leaving it for another admin, and who knows whether she reviewed the talk page or just assumed good faith and trusted the judgement of the editor making the request. And then within a day of the move, another editor objected (making the vote 1–2), and cut-paste edit-warred to restore it. –
