"The council comprises youth from the different sectors: religious, secular, Jewish, Arab, Druse and a Bedouin representative." - Secular and religious are both classifications that apply to Jews. As such, this doesn't make any sense. Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie | Say Shalom! 19 Tevet 5775 07:05, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
In many anime programmes that involve high schools, student councils often feature prominently. Now, while anime might not be any sort of good indicator for reality, it does mean that they must have some significance in Japanese society. Indeed, the Japanese article is rather thorough about this topic. Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie | Say Shalom! 19 Tevet 5775 07:22, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
I guess there are many more student councils not mentioned here. If you check the German wiki you'll see 3 countries (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) that are mentioned in depth. I'm German and I know that there are councils on 4 levels: school, county, state, federal. They are democratically build up and they advice teachers, parents and politicians (parliaments on each level) on student affairs. It seems to be a very sophisticated way to do things. Laws are made to support this and the government pays the expenses. All terms seem to be 1 year and it includes only higher ranking education schools. Thus the kids on top will be teenagers at least. The term ends automatically and prematurely when the kid finishs his / her school. I don,t know how to do wiki articles. But somebody who can speak or read German simply needs to switch from this page to the German version and all of this and even more will become available. (Especially the higher level student concils are only available through further links.) -- 2A02:810B:B3F:FF68:E504:22A7:AE7:D99A ( talk) 14:14, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

I find that maybe a more extensive description what the members of student council do would be helpful, although this is up for debate as I understand that their roles can be different in other regions. Perhaps a whole section dedicated to it. Sindenheim ( talk) 04:17, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
