Overall: The article is new enough, long enough and looks to be well sourced. It looks like qpq is not required, and there's no copyvio on earwig. All of the hooks are cited and interesting (I made a minor word tweak to ALT1). The pic is free and in the article, but its a bit crowded at 100px, so a different picture might be better. The only other issue is that it needs some minor copyediting for neutrality and grammar.

BuySomeApples, I have added the pics in the order of my preference and 100px to make it easier for the reviewer to choose. Caption is in the article. I had used the pic of crowded street to show the dangerous situation, when the animal can turn on the crowd at any moment, and they do infarct turn on the people nearby, depending on mood swings. If the pic is not clear at 100px, I am fine with choosing other pics. Your copy edits have been very helpful. I hope that it has fixed the neutrality issue you had pointed.

Venkat TL: Many thanks for this interesting article. It qualifies all parameters for DYK; could you please offer other ALTs? (as per your comment). Regards

Thank you
theleekycauldron. I have added an alt 4a. As page creator, I approve all the ALTs. The reviewer can choose any of them. For all the DYK, I suggest we use "Stray cow" instead of cattle, because they are primarily cow, not sheep goat etc. Cow is holy, not cattle. Cow slaughter is banned, not cattle.

Thriley Indeed the primary food for these stray cows is edible stuff in the garbage such as vegetable leftovers and paper. Some lucky ones get access to the grass growing in public parks etc. Religious and Animal lovers are also known to feed them, but this is not significant. They die early due to plastic poisoning or starvation (when they are locked in confined places) I will try to include these in the article if I find a good source for these bits.

Title
I have reverted back undiscussed and controversial bold page move. The disambiguation India is unnecessary, as there is no other such article. Cattle is primarily cow and cow family (ox, bull, cow) The undiscussed move changes the scope of the article. Cow is holy, not cattle. Cow slaughter is banned, not cattle. --

SL93 Thanks for promoting the DYK. Can you please substitute the wikilink to say "that deadly attacks from stray cow in India have become an electoral issue?" As noted above, the issue and the problem is primarily about cow. Using cattle will be misleading to the readers even though it is not wrong to refer cow as cattle.

I have flagged this article for its restricted viewpoint. The topic is interesting and worthwhile (very much so), but localized. Strays are an issue in other parts of the world, but the article is almost entirely restricted to India. Nevertheless, the title gives no hint of this restriction, nor does it appear in the first paragraph of the text. Either the article should be expanded, or the restriction to India should be made explicit. --

Piledhigheranddeeper I am not aware of this being an issue anywhere outside India. I may not be properly informed of what is happening in the rest of the world so it is possible that I may have missed something. If you know someplace, point it out with refs instead of speculating. Nothing can be added based on assumptions and speculations. Unless a reliable source states it.

Since the article is on the main page for few hours, I have removed the tag. I do not consider to be a major issue or insurmountable one. Without a source, I cant even agree if that is indeed an issue. I am open for more discussion, but we would need some refs first.

Well,
this article is titled "The Sheltering of Unwanted Cattle, Experiences in India and Implications for Cattle Industries Elsewhere", certainly implying that "unwanted cattle" are an issue "elsewhere" than India. There are dozens of references. I can find more later. --

Disagree. The title of your link, itself makes it clear that it affects cattle industries elsewhere. Not cattle. This article is not about cattle industries.

Stray cow →
Stray cattle in India – Contrary to the earlier discussion on this talk page, specifying "in India" seems like the correct level of
WP:PRECISION in this case, to unambiguously define the topical scope of the article. As currently written this article is about the situation in India rather than the wider concept of stray cattle in general, and it seems enough of a standalone topic to remain so.

Support. Cattle anywhere can and do stray, so if the article is only about that phenomenon in India then the title needs to make that clear.
