The article stated that the name boards use Times New Roman and Arial. This is not the case. They use a serif typeface (
photo) and a sans-serif typeface (
photo) but, as can be seen in the linked photos, the typefaces are absolutely not Times New Roman and Arial. (Arial didn't even exist until 1982.)

Comment: The typical font on the New York City Subway overhead signs (not the wall tiles) is Helvetica, which looks a lot like Arial.
