to fall in line with all the others using indigenous region names followed by wine, moving to the present redirect
Sud-Ouest wine.
Anyone have strong feelings and good reason why not?

I would prefer South West France (wine region). While some use "Sud-Ouest" also in English, it is a term never seen on labels (to the best of my knowledge), so I see little reason not to translate it. OCW uses South West France for their entry, which is why I named it this way when I created it. Moving it to something with "wine" in the name makes sense in a more general encyclopedia, but I would like to keep the "South West France" term somewhere in the title to be in line with OCW.

While I don't have a strong preference for a proposed title, I would agree with Tomas that Sud-Ouest would not be ideal and is rarely seen on wine bottles. (I have only seen 2 in my entire life time) It is certainly not a name that the "common" wine drinker would recognize. As I mentioned above, as long as it has "wine" somewhere in the title--I'm good. :)

Not titling with "Sud-Ouest" (unlike the Germans ;p) is fine with me, we have all the redirects we want, but "wine" ought to be up there. I put up a new proposed move target.

That other article should definitely be made into a redirect. The French term Sud-Ouest may be rather unambigously seen as referring to the wines of the South West of France, but an English translation into "The South West" with no mentioning of France in the title, is quite ambiguous. (
The South West (French wine region) would have been more OK IMHO, if the content didn't already exist here.) The South West of Spain is the home of e.g.
Jerez, most of Germany's wine production is situated in the South West of Germany, and the South West of United States a.k.a. California is home to most of the wine production of the US. Just to mention a few wine-related examples.
