The article claims that Michael Jackson holds the record for most Soul Train Music Awards, with 20. However, I can't account for that many from the articles about the awards for the respective years:
1999 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations. (However, the award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video was renamed the "The Michael Jackson Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video".)
So that's 6 competitive awards for Jackson, 4 special awards, and 9 unsuccessful nominations. I don't see why he is listed as winning 20 awards. --

No, he didn't win anything in 2011, probably because he had been dead for two years and thus was no longer active. I doubt he got any nominations that year either, for the same reason, although I don't have a nominations list for that year at hand. --
