This article needs better historical sources. The fez was only adopted by the Ottomans in the 1820's, so the newspaper article claiming it is the origin of the songkok and also that the songkok has been around since the 13th century is contradictory. -- Macrakis ( talk) 18:02, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
The newspaper article is incorrect and I wouldn't even consider it a reliable source. The songkok is obviously not that old and wasn't even common until the 20th century. Morinae ( talk) 12:11, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
