According to the criteria for third-letter "s" climates (C and D main groups) in the Köppen climate classification system, a true "s" ("Mediterranean" in the broadest sense) climate should have its driest summer month with a precipitation less than 40 millimetres and less than one-third of the wettest winter month's precipitation. "Winter" and "summer", unlike in the aridity threshold criteria for B climates, are here defined as the meteorological seasons each spanning three months (and not six like the low-sun and high-sun halves of the year). So, as Skagway's driest summer month (June) receives 28.3 mm of precipitation, the first criterion is met, but not the second - the wettest winter month (December) has only 63.7 mm, the quotient of both is still 28.3 / 61.7 ≈ 0.45, which is clearly above the threshold for dry summers.-- Yadgar ( talk) 20:55, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

The site in this ca. 1898 photofraoh is labeled as Foster Glacier near Skagway. I can't find a glacier by that name in the area. Does anyone know what it is? FloridaArmy ( talk) 12:42, 31 October 2018 (UTC)
The article claims prospectors jumped the Moore family claim when it is more complex. The Moore's were British subjects and so were not eligible for a United States homestead. At the time they came it was uncertain if Skagway was in Alaska or Canada. RichardBond ( talk) 11:49, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
I take issue with the note that claims Jesse Murphy is accredited with the killing of Soapy Smith. By definition, accredited means “officially recognized,” and at the Skagway coroner’s inquest held after Soapy’s death, the jury under oath determined that Frank Reid killed Soapy Smith, not Murphy. That is the only officially recognized verdict, rendered after two autopsies and the interviews of numerous witnesses.
I don’t have a problem with people saying that Murphy killed Smith if that’s what they believe, but in legal terms, describing it as official is simply not true. 24.237.31.191 ( talk) 06:12, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
