Several attempts have been made to place multiple names in the "native_name" field of the infobox. The documentation of this template explicitly calls out that the "native_name" field should be the Indian English name of the town, not the Gujarati or Hindi name, and certainly not all three. Since the "native_name" field is used both in the title of the infobox and in the pin-map location, using multiple names simply ruins the formatting of the box. Whatever ethnic reasons users might have for using anything but the Indian English name can be brought up on the template's talk page, but until that issue is resolved, please do not change the parameters from the current intended usage. I have rewritten the lead of this article. The original sentence read:
A wililink to Surat is sufficient for those who are interested; it is not necessary to specify it as "the Commercial Capital". Also, the bit about Simalthu being "known for hardworking farmers..." is pure puffery -- who says so? If such a claim can be cited, please do so.
I have also removed (twice now) the section about "Notable People". Such lists are not a place to name "local celebrities", but rather to list those people who have achieved a level of notability sufficient to have their own Wikipedia articles. WikiDan61 ChatMe! The photo gallery in this article does not appear appropriate. Rather than illustrating points in the article, the photos appear to be merely a random collection of snapshots of unremarkable scenes around the village. If anyone disagrees with this assessment, please reply here. Otherwise, I will delete the photos. WikiDan61 ChatMe! ReadMe!! 13:12, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
