Per WP:BLP, if you want to make a claim about a living person, you need to cite a reliable source, here. Also in most cases, even the biography article itself does not cite a reliable source saying the person is of Serbian ancestry. In addition to removing the names here, it will become necessary to remove categories and claims from a number of individual biographies, that haven't been sourced. -- Rob ( talk) 21:07, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
I removed the bit that said "A survey in the documentary showed that Serbs are the best educated ethnic groups in Toronto" because there was no indication that a scientific survey was conducted. Besides, the video is in Serbian so most Wikipedia readers wouldn't even understand what they were watching. ... discospinster talk 00:55, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
These are the results of Canada 2006 Census.
The 99,690 figure must be wrong since the link is broken anyway. Buttons ( talk) 09:45, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Can we get you 2 to talk about whats going on with the entry for Boris Malagurski. Looks sourced to me..so whats going on guys? Moxy ( talk) 18:20, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Is Malagurki a Canadian citizen ? I thought not and in the opening sentence it says that is the definition of a Can-Serb. Also the photo of him looks suspiciously like one removed from another page because it infringed copyright. Pincrete ( talk) 17:28, 24 December 2012 (UTC) … … Apologies, I'm wrong about the photo, but still question his Canadian citizenship Pincrete ( talk) 17:47, 24 December 2012 (UTC) … … The only references I can find to Malagurski being Canadian, are his own website and a self-referring cycle of derivative sources and Wikipedia articles. Pincrete ( talk) 17:53, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
I removed these three. Tesla was not a Serbian Canadian, I can find no reference as to Mihajlo Pupin being Serbian Canadian, and Milutin Milanković's article says he was born in Dalj, Austria-Hungary and died Belgrade, FPR Yugoslavia. Fountains of Bryn Mawr ( talk) 17:07, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
I've removed the politics section from this article. The entire section is unsourced and much of it reads like an essay. For instance: "Such was the case of Nicholas Ribic, who made a conscientious decision, but got caught in the maelstorm of war and uncertainty, trying to make sense of the chaos that surrounded him in the land of his forebears, and the country of his birth." This is original research. An encyclopedia article cannot draw unsourced conclusions about a person's motivations. We can summarize what that person did, and we can summarize an analysis of their motivations from reliable secondary sources. Similarly, this section does not maintain a neutral point of view. This is a sympathetic portrait of the Ribic and Trifković cases that doesn't address why these people were considered to be controversial. I would also like to see citations from reliable secondary sources that explain why these topics are important enough to be covered in a survey article of Serbian Canadians. Lets move forward with mass trimming of this bloated puffery filed article - I have tried to talk to the IP editor about adding refs to no avail. So what should we do the article is full a people that dont have articles here because of notability. I say mass deletion and simple addition of facts.-- Moxy ( talk) 05:03, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
An estimated population figure is repeatedly being re-inserted, [2], apart from any question of the reliability of this estimate, there is no indication in the source as to HOW the figure was arrived at. At least the 'official' figure makes it clear that these are households/citizens who identify themselves as of Serbian descent. What on earth is the statistical basis for an estimate 3 times larger than the official figure ? Pincrete ( talk) 23:08, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
A number of substantial alterations have recently been made to 'History + Politics'. They are largely unreferenced, fairly problematic re:'neutrality' and in many cases ungrammatical and out of historical sequence.
I lack the competence to remedy them but hope some 'watchers' will take note and amend/remove as appropriate. Pincrete ( talk) 16:18, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
In fact, having noticed the above 'removing politics', I see (as I thought), this is OR. I ntend to remove it but someone else might want to fix 'history'. Pincrete ( talk) 16:22, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
