There's a proposal within a checklist at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places/NRHP articles needing attention to split out Old Scripps Building, the National Historic Landmark, from this page. Currently Old Scripps Building is a redirect to this page. I happen to think that the coverage of Old Scripps Building within this page is fine, and that it doesn't need splitting out. At least not unless the section on it grew to be a lot bigger. doncram ( talk) 16:23, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

The setting of the film The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues is a fictional research institution called the Pacific College of Oceanography. It looks sort of like a 1950s era Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Does anyone know if the fictional research institution is based on the real research institution?- Schnurrbart ( talk) 00:18, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
