This article says that the SSP was founded in 1964, but only lists a general secretary from 1969 to 1971. The
Praja Socialist Party (PSP) article, however, claims that the SSP broke off in 1969, which might suggest that the "1964" in this article was a typo. However, the
George Fernandes article says that he ran on the SSP party ticket in 1967.
I'd appreciate it if somebody who actually knows something about this could fix whichever one of the SSP and PSP articles is mistaken. Thanks,

[2]. It appears the split took place in 1964 after all. Also it appears that Lohia's party joun ed SSP, and that the party was led by Lohia until Fernandes became the leader. --
