No offence but to be clear I must say that there are too many mistakes here .
Salt bridge is not barely for connecting two half-cells, the importance of which is it decreases the liquid junction potential . So KCl is often used here for the rates of moving for the ions are close enough for regular analytical jobs. But according to what I have learnt from university, NaCl is not OK!
Electrons can not exist in solutions like water or acid or alcohol. Anions (e.g. chloride) are carrying the negative charge in solution.
Isolating a very kind of metallic cation is not an advantage of salt bridge. It is an advantage of tri-electrode system .So I advise to delete the paragraph of isolation.
And why I do not edit the content ? I am a Chinese native speaker .I can read English well but compose poorly .Some English native speaker should do the editor's work . The Chinese version was based on the article here and I have correct it . Zhaiyu.zhaiyu ( talk) 23:26, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Although the single salt bridges described here are probably adequate in many cases (probably even NaCl for some purposes) I presume that the composition mentioned in the article on Liquid junction potential, using a solution saturated with KCl and NH4NO3 with some (how much?) Although needed in many cases I expect salt bridges to suffer from more or less severe disadvantages due to diffusion in and out from the salt bridge and the electrolytes it is supposed to connect. The salt bridge may be replaced periodically but contamination of the other electrolytes will persist. How is this handles if for example measurements require a the use of a salt bridge over extended periods?
