It's the official abbreviation for the club (look at
their official homepage): the articles here usually use the common name (for famous clubs) or the official abbreviated denomination (see also
S.F. Aversa Normanna). By the way, My opinion is that they want to fade the reference to Saint-Christophe a bit in order to represent the whole region.

I understand that, but we have to follow the general conventions and guidelines on the article names on football teams, and those, here in the English wiki, ask to use abbreviations or the most widespread common name, when you can use that. In wikis in other languages, like the Italian on, the guidelines ask to use the extended full name.
