For precision,
Mantrayana, KNOT Nyingma... but that must await an "omniscient" source. There are no true synonyms in English as in EVERY other language. The former deleted version of this article, determined "unencyclopedic", was a true and correct evaluation. The makeshift work was mine. It was deleted appropriately. This version is encyclopedic and it is tendered:
According nyingma scholar, Ronzom Chokyi Pandita, a perfect
shamatha is necessary for those who have not understood dzogchen perfectly and experientially, who have nevertheless received Dzogchen teachings and are practicing according to Dzogchen view. The reason why it is necessary is that one needs to stabilize one's mind so that one can integrate the knowledge of Dzogchen.
i found reference to this on The Buddhist Community E-Sangha...a Wikipedia-conforming citation would be appreciated...
