the section about "the facts" reads like an editorial, rather than an encyclopedic entry. we should either cut it down, or remove it; it doesn't really belong here.-- 87.171.102.1 ( talk) 14:00, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
The sentence "It can be argued that Howard is the most highly decorated soldier in U.S. military history," doesn't seem accurate. It's hard to find definitive records about individual soldiers' military decorations, but Douglas MacArthur is probably the most highly decorated U.S. soldier ever. Of all the Vietnam veterans, Col Bud Day certainly has more decorations than Col Howard, although one may argue that he is not exactly a soldier but an airman. Perhaps this sentence could be rewritten or deleted? Hildenja 21:14, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

There's a "private page" among the links. But clicking on it leads to a tribute site which is accessible to the public. What's "private" about that link? 203.97.110.64 ( talk) 23:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Howard was wounded 14 times but received the Purple Heart only 8 times rather than 14--anybody know why? Also, since 1918, a person can only get the Medal of Honor once (though there were individuals who got it twice before it was limited to a one-time-only award); this may explain why he received the MOH once, though nominated three times. 71.148.53.59 ( talk) 19:08, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Howard had bit parts in "The Green Berets" and "The Longest Day". 71.148.53.59 ( talk) 10:00, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Robert L. Howard → Robert Lewis Howard – Potential confusion as middle initial is shared with Robert Lesarian Howard, initial page should be a disambig. Ranze ( talk) 07:18, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
