Holy crap, this is like the entire movie script condensed into one superlong paragraph. Edit it!
You're right, it's absolutely abysmal and reeks of pedantry. Come on guys, this is basic cyberpunk fare; the plot probably took less time to think up than it did to write that 'synopsis'. It could quite easily be cut down to two or three paragraphs.

Either you've seen the movie and already know the plot, you're interested in seeing the movie and don't want the plot spoiled, or you don't care about the movie. Long plot summaries are disruptive to the article and irritating.

Batman Begins has a long plot summary, as do many other articles on films. Chopping it down does seem prudent, but removing it entirely and replacing it with the blurb seems to counter the precendent shown elsewhere in the encyclopedia.

That's not long compared to a lot of the crap people write. Anyway, if you're going to write a plot summary, please make it broad and concise. You do not need to describe the events of every scene in detail. Doing so only makes the summary overly long and unpleasant to read.

Ok, while I am somewhat tipsy at this point ( why I stopped writing ), I would suggest rather than you revert my edit, let's get a plot outline into the article and then trim it down, yes? As I said, I'm all in favour of slimming down the plot, but lacking the creativity to do so, some assistance would be apreciated, ok?

Please don't write article content while you're inebriated... Nothing you wrote was usable, and you put it before the synopsis, both reasons why I deleted it. If you don't feel you can write a suitable plot summary, maybe it's best to leave it for others to do from scratch instead of filling the article with an overly verbose plot summary and expecting others to have to clean it up and rewrite it. I often find rewriting a particularly rambling passage is more difficult than starting from the beginning.
I've translated what you wrote so far to more usable encylopedic summary. Unforuntately this leaves us with what is essentially a rewrite of the synopsis. If you think you can follow more along the style I used, go for it, but please don't keep going how you were before.

Original language?
What is the original language of the film (as this is not mentioned in the article)? It seems to be a French-made film, but the dialogue appears to be synched to the English acting (which is awful). The French acting (as far as I can tell) is far better than the English acting, so it seems like the original language would probably have been French, except for the synching... does anyone know anything about this? All I can think of is maybe they re-rendered the film for the English version with the lip synching changed to match the English dialogue.

In the summary it states "As Karas is mortally injured from his gunshot wound, he imagines himself apologizing to Bislane for killing her sister, for which she forgives him." This doesn't really happen in the English version that I've seen, he lies to her in his fantasy and implies she took the ID and left. Bislane says she'll look for her and he says she should respect her sister's decision. I'm not sure if the ending is different in the French version however and I'm therefore hesitant to amend the article, can someone confirm if this is the case or not?
