An airfield opened in July 1914, the first aerodrome in Lincolnshire. ^{citation needed} The airfield was built by George Wimpey. ^{citation needed}

http://raf-lincolnshire.info/nkillingholme/nkillingholme.htm could be unreliable and may be contradicted by http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LIN/Killingholme/ which states "•NAS Killingholme aerodrome was established in July, 1914, on the Humber Estuary. It was the first aerodrome in Lincolnshire" - RNAS Killingholme is a completely different thing -- its Royal Navy.
