How did she survive the Holocaust?

Per the article, she had a Jewish family name and was barred from academia in the 1940s due to the Nazis’ anti-Jewish laws. Yet it appears she survived WW2 living in Hungary, even as the overwhelming majority of Hungarian Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.
