The new constitution does not mention the office of Prime Minister, only the offfices of President and Vice President. It's likely to be abolished.--Tærkast (

There's an
edit war ongoing about who is Myanmar's Prime Minister. Since the coup d'etat, there are obviously 2 groups claiming legitimacy in governing the country. Wikipedia is not a battlefield. This page should reflect the dispute and not claim that the PM appointed by either the junta or the shadow government (NUG) is the official one.
Bmaisonny (

I agree with Bmaisonny's statement. Listing
Min Aung Hlaing as the Prime Minister without mentioning
NUG or underlying issues about the ongoing crisis is potentially misleading to the readers and does not reflect the Wikipedia's neutral stand on such matters. --

It's absolutely absurd to claim the NUG is in government. The RS clearly state that there is a military dictatorship ruling Myanmar, and we go by what RS say, not what is "right"; see
WP:TRUTH and
WP:RIGHTINGGREATWRONGS. It is not Wikipedia's place to adjudicate legal disputes and determine who the rightful leader of Myanmar is; we simply state the facts as they are. This has been litigated ad nauseam at
Talk:Aung San Suu Kyi (so much so that there's now an
FAQ there). The formality of Min Aung Hlaing being named PM in addition to SAC chairman does not change anything about this situation. ―

If RS report there is a military junta and a parallel civilian government, the article should reflect that. Putting legal or legitimacy issues aside, RS indicate that there are two governments (and hence two PMs) under contest. I see the current version of the article represents no such position.

The RS report that there is a parallel government in exile, i.e. not in power. There is no scholarly dispute over who actually exercises power in Myanmar. It's unequivocally the military. ―

User:Tartan357 Majority of RS report the claims from both SAC and NUG but do not imply which is the "true" government of Myanmar as it is not their position to do so. Regarding whether there is any dispute over who exercises power, RS report terrorizing actions of the military but it does not mean the dictatorship has state control necessary for a viable government. The current reports clearly indicates that there is dispute over the recognized government of Myanmar, both within the nation and internationally. Just because NUG is in exile does not settle such dispute.

If the military dictatorship doesn't actually have state power, then show me one instance of the NUG exercising the force of law. Pretending the military is not in total control does a great disservice to the resistance movement and people around the world who are trying to understand what's happening in Myanmar. ―

User:Tartan357 We could argue whether the dictatorship has political power/public obedience
[1][2][3] but we will not because you are right in saying that the military has the ground control (by coercion). The actual politics and political titles such as PM is more complex than what we can settle here. So in the broad sense, it is correct to say there is a military dictatorship ruling. I only request it be made clear the PM title is self-appointed and originated from a coup de 'teat. I have voiced my opinion on this topic and have no further input until the situation changes. Thank you.
