The monastery was built by medieval Bulgarian feudal lords and until 1919. was governed by Bulgarian Orthodox Church. Also population around monastery and monks are of Bulgarian ethnicity. I personally find it offensive to claim this monastery to be Serbian only because Serbia received rights at Neuilly conference to occupy it by force.
